I did it!!! Just bought my diamond!!!

Haven- thanks for checking in on me!! I'll post pictures tomorrow when I pick 'her' up!
I have tried on sets, but I wasn't really focusing on that specifically at the time. So I'll have to go and check out some. I used to love the space, then I started to not like it when there was a huge space. So maybe a small donut would be ok.
BTW - I really think your ring is beautiful!! So unique, romantic but still classic! You did great!

to the OP: do you know if WF is stocking these antique cushions now, or did you call it in?

and yes, ditto everyone else, post LOTS of pictures :)

Sorry i didn't see this question earlier.
Bob said that there were planning on stocking vintage cuts (and had purchased a couple) because they were becoming so popular (that's why this one was one of their Expert Selections), but then the market slowed for them so they didn't bring more in stock and had this one in stock. So it worked ou pretty good for me!
He mentioned with fancy cuts they often go through phases when they are very popular to time when their more a niche market.

Thank you!
It's really funny that you said you originally loved the space, and then you didn't like it because that is EXACTLY what happened to me, just in the opposite order. At first I was adamantly against a space, and then after wearing my set for some time I started to love the way it looked when the rings parted. Isn't it funny how our tastes change over time?

I still cannot get over how amazing your stone is. I cannot wait to see how you set it!!!!

OMG - it's HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A day late (got held up at customs) I think they just wanted to look at it because its soooooo pretty!!
I can't focus on anything but this lovely little thing (well not really so little)! :naughty:

I will post some pictures soon - trying to figure out all my camera settings. Okay I have the pictures done - couldn't wait! :twirl:

There is no way I would have ever thought there is any hint of color - I really cannot see any tint (except when put against something white in the day light, it is a bit over cast today too).
It came in this great little box - it looks like a shadow box for diamonds! So I could see the whole diamond.

Pricescope is not working with me today - for some reason when I go to upload a picture nothing happens......

tap tap tap . . . tap tap tap

The suspense is going to kill me!!!! I'm so excited for you, Janae!

OMG - it's killing me. They won't upload.....

This is criminal, to put us through this suspense! :cheeky:
How big are the files? I think the max is 2 MB. It looks like other people are having problems uploading pictures, too, though, so many it's a PS issue.
ETA: I just tested it and was able to upload a jpg file just fine. I hope you get your photos to upload soon! I cannot wait to see them!

Resize your pictures and paint and then get them up here before we all come after you with pitch forks!

So glad you love it and so jealous too. Your 2.6ct diamond was only about $1500 more than my 1.67ct RB!! :o

Okay I am creating a flicker account to upload them! Man am I desparate! LOL

Remember you can't link outside sources for pictures, but if you do I will copy them and likn them directly before the link is deleted, if you do it soon 8)

Okay well I tried compressing and it still didn't like me.
Here's a link to the flicker page...

Now for some reason it wants to work!

That is a BEAUTIFUL STONE!!! WOW  I bought a 1.61ct from Whiteflash for almost the same price LAST MONTH!!! I am JEALOUS--lol!!! It looks comlpetely eye-clean and to be honest, I think those chunky cushions look BEST with a little warmth in them. Congrats on such a FANTASTIC purchase. Some day I hope to own something similar (with tapered frenchies). I had always thought it was FAR OFF on my horizon---maybe not? LOL. Congrats again....IT IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! I've heard a few people mention that they had bought diamonds a carat smaller for the same price! I guess I was super lucky! When I saw the price it seemed a bit crazy, our orginal budget was about 3k less than this, but when I saw it and the price I had to have it!
It is totally eye clean, I've been staring at it for 3 hours now, looking at the GIA report to compare and I can't see anything. I thought I may have seen the cloud on the top, but then I looked again and I couldn't.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE    the tapered frenchies too! Maybe some day I will get to upgrade to that setting!

I had never seen a larger J stone in person, nor had I ever seen a vintage cushion. So I was almost a bit worried. But man am I in love!

Thanks again! And thank you for sharing my excitment! My FI thinks I'm insane, and this isn't really something I would ever gush to my friends about!
Gotta LOVE PS!!!!

Ha ha, I so understand about friends and fiance not understanding. I am relatively new to PS but I am SOOOO happy I found it. It's nice to be around other's that love pretty things!!
You got a fantastic deal!! You wont regret putting in a little extra $ to the total. It was more than worth it!! Set it in a simple solitaire setting...the stone will make even string look glamorous :-). Some day in the future you can do a re-set as an anniversary present. No need to rush.
Ironically, part of the price break is bc its a J, but like I said before...I think chunky cushions look best a little warm. The warmth mkes it YUMMY!!!! My stone is an E, normally I like icy white....but when (and if) I am ever lucky enough to own a chunky cushion I will buy a warm stone for sure. I wouldnt want an icy chunky cushion (IMO---no offense to anyone that has one). I think the older cuts just look better warm.
I can not wait to see how it all turns out. I am going to live vicariously through you. I have mentioned in other posts that one day I hope to own a 2.5ct warm chunky cushion with frenchies. I cant believe that it was sitting at WF in my price range-lol. Congrats again--I am so happy for you. Please keep us updated with what you decide to do and anytime you need someone to share your joy---we are here!!! GOOOOOOD LUCK!!!!

GORGEOUS! Gorgeous, gorgeous gorgeous.

Any more ideas about how you're going to set this beauty?

I love the way she throws colors, she's really, really stunning.

I do not remember who’s hand is in this picture – I wrote it down on my home computer. So I am sooo sorry for not giving you credit, but I love the ring!!

OMG.....More detail pics PLS! :wavey:

Janae--You really can't go wrong with any of those settings.

My only concern would be the durability of such a thin shank. My new ring's shank is 1.55 mm thick from the top, but it's high and hand forged, which apparently makes it stronger. I really wanted a thin shank, but my biggest concern was that it would still be strong.

Anyway, I really came back here to drool over your stone some more, so if you'll excuse me . . . :cheeky:

Oh, Janae, that is a BEAUTIFUL stone!!! Congratulations on finding such a beauty at a great deal!!!! It is going to be stunning
in whatever setting you decide on! Wow and wow. Enjoy!

Thank you everyone!

Haven: I went to see my uncle and his wife (they will be making my ring). It will also be hand forged and all hand made, but it doesn't sound like they will let me go less then 2mm. They were trying to talk me into 2.5mm, but I really just found it too large. Even 2mm seemed to be almost too thick as well! But we are doing a round shank, so it does look smaller than a flat 2mm ring. Also, having a totally round shank is stronger as well. And I do not want to compromise strength for esthetics.

Here's a little picture I took during my 'morning photoshoot' in the bathroom - needless to say I was late for work!!
Here she is with the ring he proposed to me with

Wow. Wow. Wow!!!!

Your cushion is simply gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see your ring after it has been set! :appl: :appl:

Janae--Oh, those new pictures are TO DIE FOR! I cannot get enough of your stone.

It sounds like your aunt and uncle are going to make a beautiful setting for your ring. I was shocked when I saw how thin the shank of my new ring turned out, but I think my jeweler compensated for the thinness by adding height to the shank. It does feel very sturdy, but only time will tell, right? 2 mm sounds like a perfect thickness.

I cannot wait to see your setting. Are they going to start on it soon? SO EXCITING!

Congratulations! It looks beautiful!

It is going in for a stone appraisal on Monday, then they are picking it up Tuesday to get started on it!!! I am going to miss her, but it sounds like they'll be moving pretty fast on this for me. They know how long of a process this has been! I'll be sure to keep the pictures coming once she is all set in her home!

Love it so much! So beautiful! More pics PLS.... :wavey:
