One tip I can suggest is to really narrow down what you find most important and look for those qualities in the stones you search or else you could be looking forever ... for example, I find color really impt so I narrowed my search to the D - F range and I want to decrease the likelihood of visible inclusions so I try to stick in the VS range.
You have already stated G - I is your color range, so maybe your next step is to narrow down what type of clarity you would like?

Casecracker - This one does look lovely but be careful of the "thin" girdle. Ideal would be medium - slightly thick or even thin - medium is preferrable. Apparently a girdle that is quite thin is prone to chipping or at least more so than one that is medium.

You know what, I was reconsidering getting the setting as well b/c I thought maybe I was just going overboard, however, I sure am glad I did now. Last night, sort of by coincidence and sort of by sneaky maneuvering

, I found her old setting and it was made for something much smaller than a half carat ... I''m thinking that maybe her original diamond was somewhere around .25 carats and, therefore, wouldn''t have worked with the .53 that I am getting to replace it. Besides, a faulty/loose bastardly prong on the old setting is what caused the first diamond to come loose and go missing in the first place so it''s probably better to go all new.

I was thinking as well ... wouldn''t it be great to be whoever stumbled across my mom''s diamond after it had fallen out? I wish that would happen to me!

I will absolutely post pics! ... if I can pry it off her finger .. or maybe, I will get them in before she gets it... easier that way!

I will also keep you updated about the WF process. Traci was fantastic to deal with. She was delightful, helpful and really clicked with me and was able to find what I was looking for with minimal direction. I guess she really listened.
The whole bank wire thing was a bit of a schmozzle with my bank, however, well worth the hassle given the considerable discount you get for paying via wire instead of by credit card.

Sparks, just FYI a thin girdle on a diamond of that calibre is not likely to be a problem, especially in an ACA.
