If the Cut is Ideal and the setting is Tiffany 18K YG Platinum prongs, is there any benefit in going to a "G" Color. The question is, am I going to see any difference through the top. White light, etc. Thanks again!

With a well cut stone, there should be no noticable difference when set against the very warm tone of 18k yellow. "I" should be just fine.

I agree with griffin I color should be fine go for a bigger diamond and skip the G :}
Also im of the opnion that plat prongs on a tiffany style 6 prong is overkill in the strenth department and like the looks of the all gold ones better.
In some of the other styles that dont have as much prong to hold the diamond it might be an issue but in a 6 prong in my opinion its not needed and doesnt look as good.
There are a lot of old rings out there that held up just fine with gold prongs and honestly in my opinion they were a lot harder on them in the "old" days than most are today.
If the plat prongs look better to you then go for it :}

just my 2c.

No problem. That would be fine. Good luck.

I just bought an ideal cut I color stone for my girlfriend (She will be my fiancee by tonight) and it is sparkling white. I held it next to my sister's stone which is a better color and because of the light coming through the ideal cut on mine it looked much brighter and whiter than hers. If you get an ideal cut I color you will have absolutely nothing to worry about. It will be beautiful.

Yes. It is our six year anniversary together.

I color will not create a problem for anyone UNLESS they had their heart set on another letter of the alphabet. Sometimes a person's irrational need or desire for a particular color is so overwhelmingly important, that they are not able to see the beauty of any other choice.

I have H color and I color master diamonds here, all blessed by GIA where the I is better than one of the H colors. Go figure! I use these apparently conflicting diamonds all the time to grade other diamonds and to show people that grading is not a perfect science.

What you want to do is give a perfect gift. One with meaning and substance. A diamond is one of the best ways to demonstrate how you feel about someone.
