Noneek, I''m glad you and your fiance reached an agreement! I noticed right away that you stone was set off-center and really, that would bug the heck out of me. I''d also be concerned about the overall workmanship if the jeweler was willing to let a ring leave the showroom with such an obvious defect (I assume that wasn''t intentional

)!

I hope you have fun finding a new setting.

Don''t you think the width of the band is bigger than the diamond? To me, it feels like the stone screams out ''I can do better!!!''. Am I nuts or what? Pls don''t say I''m nuts, I''m actually very sensitive.

I don''t think you are nuts. I can see why you might not be entirely happy with your ring. The diamond is beautiful, but the setting detracts from it because of its width and uneven details. In my opinion, the stone would have been better showcased in a simpler and more delicate setting (but I''m by no means an expert). Maybe something like this Whiteflash #1 (if you want a plain shank) or like this Whiteflash #2 (if you want a shank with melee diamonds).

I''m really glad you''re getting it all sorted out, Noneek
I have to say, you''ve done very well with your photos!!! It''s a skill!
An, yes, I can see perfectly the off-centre setting, which would be distracting.

Silly me! I am so excited about getting the new setting that I woke up at 4am and can''t get back to sleep.

Finally, someone else actually can see the problem. Few days ago I thought I am being super perfectionist. I''m so glad I found this forum. You ladies are awesome.

I keep thinking, should I get a simple solitaire or a pave settings or a halo?

I haven''t mention this but I saw a nice halo setting in a Dejaun Jewelers (in Los Angeles) and it''s from Hearts on Fire. I wonder if any of you have seen it. It has a 4 prong setting and then a gap and then a halo and then diamonds along side the ring. Its gorgeous (IMHO) but its costs more than what the diamond costs. Oh and it is a hearts on fire setting. I''m thinking also whether my J stone will look off with the higher color in that setting. Anyway just a thought.

Any thoughts on a halo settings for my 0.40 ct stone. I love the legato from WF and the legato with pave setting as well but for this I have to buy it with a diamond.

I absolutely love the way this band tapers and makes the diamond really POP! I think this would look nice... be careful with pave or halo, as sometimes the setting can overwhelm the stone... let me see if I can find a really thin band w some sparkle....

ETA -darn my attachment is not working....

Here is an entire thread of >1ct diamonds that can give you an idea of different settings...

Oh my!!! This is gorgeous!! Pls do tell me where to get this.

Always wanted this one but not sure if this will look good. What do you ladies think of this setting for my 0.40 ct stone?

That is pretty! I love pear sides. I'd just make sure the side stones are small enough not to overwhelm the center... unless you are looking for a more 3 stone look. If the pears are larger, it could give that appearance vs an accompanyment.

From the website I like 1A3 http://www.dimendscaasi.com/build/step1.asp?prodID=1A3
that tapers... or really thin bands, it really makes the stone look larger! or 1-1

if you are looking for side sparkle... 1d1 is cool http://www.dimendscaasi.com/build/step1.asp?prodID=1-D1

wow... they have soo many to choose from... really which one speaks to you?

Yeah, I always wanted a three-stone look. I think I saw one of the pricescopers posts her pics here and loving it ever since. The price is good ($1,300-1,500) with a side stones, IMHO. But I am no expert in pricing. Any thoughts?

Have any of you ladies experience the workmanship of dimend scaasi? Seriously considering the 3-stone look but need FI approval first.
