Weblorn on ebay has marked some of her gems 25%, so I scooped this emerald up since I've been eying it ever since it was posted.
It's a .93 ct, 7x4.6mm, lightly oiled, intense slightly bluish green. She said the color is much more intense than the photo shows, I guess we'll see when it comes. I have noticed in the past that her photos can be a touch lighter than the reality.

I've had good experiences buying from them before. I don't always agree on what's a "tsav" vs a "mint" etc, but I've found her descriptions to be fairly honest and accurate, and the return policy is fine.

Anyways, just though I'd post a link in case anyone else was interested. She has a pair of mint garnets that I think would be yummy earrings.

Oh, and a vendor photo of the emerald.

I love that emerald! I tried in vain to get my fiance to buy it for me for my birthday. I have three mint garnets from her.

Ooo, any pics Kelpie of your mints?

Yeah, I didn't buy it for awhile because it seemed too pricey...but then it went on sale, and my other project came in way under budget, so yay! I'll post pics when it gets here :)

Here are my mint pair. https://www.pricescope.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=142259

I'm still waiting for Quest to fix to my satisfaction. They scratched the tables, hung my stones backwards from bezels, and didn't even address the backs I wanted changed even though I paid for new ones. I couldn't believe they gall they had to mail me something so incredibly wrong. So disappointing. :angryfire:

This is my third one, it's really washed out but the price was right. I was hoping the color would be way better than the pics like my other pair was but it is representative.

Ooo any plans yet MTG?

I'm actually hoping it will fit into my yellow gold mistral ring setting from sally. :)

Hey MTG, very pretty stone!

Can I ask do you trust this seller? I actually had admired one or two of their gems in the past, but never took the plunge..
now with the sale, I am considering making an offer on something..

Do you have any other gems from them for a vendor / client comparison photo at all? I did think their photos seemed a lil washed out..

Cheers for your input! :wavey:

Lovely stone MTG, emeralds are hard to photograph, so yours might be even more saturated in real life.

Hi AJ!

I've bought a malaya garnet and a purple spinel in the past, I think I have a vendor/IRL photo comparison in the stickied thread somewhere. I was happy with both and kept them, even though I think the photos were consistently a tad washed out. In my case, it must meant the stones looked even better IRL.

Anyways, the seller was really nice, and assured me that I could return the stone in 7 days if I wasn't satisfied.

Thanks LovingGems!

The seller reassured me the stone was much more intense and saturated in real life, which is partially why I pulled the trigger. I think otherwise the photo looks a little under saturated to me. Fingers crossed it does indeed look as amazing in real life as the seller says it does!

Very pretty.

Thanks Marcy

It should be arriving something this week. I realize it's premature, but I"m already starting to debate whether to get it certified or not.

Anyone have specific recommendations for emeralds in terms of who to go to, and how much it would cost?

MTG,
Why are you thinking of getting it certified? Is it that you want to know the level of treatment, origin, colour quality or something else?

Mind clean issue is what I'm guessing since emeralds are so often heavily treated.

MTG, I wouldn't bother, if you don't see a lot of surface cracks with a bright light and a loupe, it's probably not heavily treated. Lighter toned emeralds tend to be on the clean side, and don't require major treatment. Keep it away from US cleaners, and you should be okay.

Yeah, it's mostly the "mind clean" thing. I trust the vendors intentions and all, and she did run it by a lab, but just for my own peace of mind I guess. I also know close to nothing about emeralds, this will be my first.

It isn't a particularly pricey emerald, I'm just hoping I"ll like the color (hoping for a decently saturated med green).

I think most inexpensive gem briefs will state it's treated with oil, but they won't say if it's faint, minor, moderate, or signicant, so you would have to buy a more expensive lab report from the AGL, which I think lists the degree of enhancement, and that would be too expensive.

I think the brief might be sufficient to confirm that it is oil only, and in any case, usually clean-ish emeralds will be oil treated only.

Not necessarily, they treat clean emeralds with resin as well.

Beautiful!
BTW - I never bought from Weblorn but when I went to her store (Gemnut) today, the best things were sold out. Surprise, surprise!

I have purchased several gems from Gemnut/weblorn and I have always been satisfied.

I am off to check if you ladies have left any nice sale items for me.
