I can''t believe how much bigger a diamond looks on a small hand!

Today, a friend and I went out with our kids to do some G0-Karting, and mini-putt. My friend asked to see my diamond ring, (wanted it off my finger), so I took it off and she tried it on. WOW..that thing looked HUGE on her size 4.5 finger! She is petite with small, slender hands (opposed to my Fred Flinstone hands). She said "has anyone asked you if it''s real, since it looks like something out of a bubble gum machine..it''s too big to look real". (She is not a jewelry type person, and to her a .50 carat seems huge, so I guess my nearly 2 carat diamond looked a bit odd on her hand!). I replied "NO..it doesn''t look big on my hand..so I guess nobody would think it was fake!" I just stared at my ring on her hand, thinking it DOES look big (but I wished I had tiny hands like hers, so it looked just as big on me!) I see a lot of rings on small fingers here on PS, but it wasn''t until I seen it on a live hand..that I realized what an impact hand(finger) size has on diamond size!! WOW!!

I think it''s not only her finger being smaller but also that you''re seeing your ring from a different perspective than when you look down at your own hand. One of my girlfriends from my old office and I are the same finger size and we would sometimes wear each other''s rings. KOWABUNGA!!! my ring looked huge when I saw it on her. One me... meg... same ol, same ol.

Do you ever go an look at your ring in the mirror? Mine always looks bigger to me in the mirror than it does on my hand too.

Hahahaha! I''m sitting at my desk and I had a crazy idea. What if you put clear tape around your finger like a girdle?! LOL!!!!! It just flashed across my consciousness... you know how those crazy celebs duct tape their middles to taper them? It''d be like FINGER SPANX! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

i completely agree with you. my friends always say that diamonds always look bigger on my fingers than on theirs (yes, im guilty of putting on my friends rings...what can i say they''re SOOOO PRETTY!) i never really thought that my fingers were that small (3.25) until i saw the wax of my setting and i thought...wow...that looks like it''s kid sized...lol

You guys (BLISS especially) are all TOO funny!
I still think it looks much smaller (like a one carat perhaps) on my hand than it did on hers.
I'm willing to try the tape trick..just wondering at what point it will cut off my circulation?? LOL

I believe that only works on thighs, buttock, stomach, chest..wouldn''t try it on the face, or fingers..but if you do, please share..tell us how it goes!!

LOL. I can''t believe I know this, but it''s a well known beauty trick for UNDER THE EYES. So I would guess that if people put it under the eyes, it''s OK for on the finger! (Don''t hold me liable, though!) I always wonder how someone discovered that? I mean, the last thing I would put on my face is a cream you use for the bunghole!

As a makeup artist, I can honestly say I never tried Prep H under anyone''s eyes..I guess it would tighten, but wouldn''t it burn a bit? I dunno..I think I''ll stick to the tried and tested "undereye repair serum". I know the Prep. H, is a BIG hit with contestants in beauty pageants! HUH!

Disclaimer: I do not know if it is medically advisable to use either of these products in the manner I am about to suggest!

Prep H totally works under your eyes. It''s great after a hard night! Hydrocortisone works in the same way.

Miranda, I have also heard a lot of people do use it for undereye swelling... They keep it in the fridge!

Beau, I can totally relate...I have size 7 (long) fingers (man hands as I call them!) so most diamonds that look large on other womens hands look tiny on mine.
