Not sure of the cost, or relative match of what they have with what you want...but do check out the options at Duttons. (Also, Wink may have some). When I checked Bluenile this am, I saw none of their AGS certed princesses are considered ideal cut. Of course, they''re probably lovely, but I''d at least consider the alternatives.

The problem is that there is little we can say about this stone.

The number-rules for princess-cuts are based upon the traditional way of cutting. Since a few months, AGS has taken us outside of the box, and this is like being on another planet, where the old number-rules do not apply.

Therefore, based upon the old planet, this could well be one of the better stones on that planet. On the new AGS-planet, though, it is clear that this stone is not the best performer.

The problem now is, that on the new planet, there are still very few stones.

Any advice therefore is relative.

Live long,

I hate to be the materialistic one, but the price in my oppinion is a bit high. Did you try perhaps a local jeweler, where you can buy after viewing the stone, and not only buying off paper? This could be an important consideration - even if it adds a few % to the price. Although I believe in Internet sales, some times - even if there''s a great, great return policy, like Blue Nile''s - it''s better to see in person.

Regarding AGS, as someone said, they are thinking in a certain way, which isn''t always the right way. You should fall in love with a stone - that''s my oppinion.

Could you clarify this statement?

Live long,

I purchased my stone after seeing it on blue nile and asked Mark to get it for me. I saved over 2k.
I don''t know about signature stones though.

Anyhoo...as everyone else said, you can''t tell by numbers. But if I HAD to pick one I would think that the safest GUESS might be #1.

I''m an idiot, I type without thinking. I was referring to "Since a few months, AGS has taken us outside of the box, and this is like being on another planet, where the old number-rules do not apply."

I don''t know about anyone else here but for me the squareness of the stone is important. I want a princess to be square not rectangular so I like something that has a low length/width ratio. The closer to 1.00 the better in my eyes. This could be one of the price differences. Not to mention the color is 2 grades lower on #2 than #1. The polish is also a grade lower on #2 than #1. With those 3 differences it can cause the stone to be less expensive. I''m no expert but that''s what I''ve noticed in my search for a princess. I still don''t have one yet but soon! At least I hope. I''m looking at a half carat though. Right Paul? ;-) heh
