Hey guys!

I just need some opinions from everyone. So I've been researching a LOT and finally came to a decision to go for a lower color grade in exchange for a larger stone BUT has a quality cut . So right now I'm looking into I and J stones which "are" H&A according to the description (BUT I will get them checked by a gemologist/appraiser before formally purchasing/keeping it).

Questions:

1. I've read a lot of things about diamonds with lower colors such as I and J having strong blue fluo,i which they said fluo "can balance out the yellow tint into giving it a whiter appearance"...what's the worse case scenario here? the diamond being too "cloudy" in appearance? The stone being too "milky" that the cuts aren't visible inside? I've seen excellent ones from the search button and I liked what I saw (no cloudy appearance, but blue tint when it hits the sunlight)

2. I've come up with 3 choices. Basically, I can get them all shipped at one time but I don't want to take the risk of having 3 stones @ a time. I wanna cut my choices down into 2...so if you guys can help me out! I've entered 3 of them on the HCA as well and all of them scored triple excellent (1.2, 1.4 and 1.3 respectively)*except Spread

*ALL GIA
stone 1: .71ct

*My #1 choice because of its cut, size and cost

triple ex, J, VS2, strong blue fluo ($2124 CDN),crystal inclusion, Excellent on the H&A scale 1.2

stone 2: .71ct

triple ex, I, VS2, strong blue fluo ($2539 CDN), cloud inclusion, Excellent on the H&A scale 1.4

stone 3: .73ct

triple ex, J, VS1 , faint fluo ($2404 CDN), cloud-crystal-needle inclusion, Excellent on the H&A scale, 1.3

I'm really leaning onto buying stone 1 because of the price and it has an excellent SIZE for its ct wt too. It also has a crystal inclusion which I most prefer of all the inclusions (people have told me I shouldn't worry about it in a VS2)

Please answer by answering #1 and a choice for #2 (in order)

Thanks guys!

Based on that info, I too would get the cheaper one assuming the vendor says that the strong blue isn''t giving it a haze.

Can you give the dimensions too? HCA score is not enough, where the stone lands on the graph is also important as a judgment tool.

Dimensions:

1. 5.76 x 5.8 x 3.54
2. 5.71 x 5.74 x 3.56
3. 5.78 x 5.83 3.60

I wish I can upload the pictures of the cert . As I try to resize them the less readable it becomes.

1.Depth - 61.2, Table - 56, Crown Angle - 34.5, Pavilion Angle - 40.8

2.Depth - 62.2, Table - 54, Crown Angle - 34.5, Pavilion Angle - 40.8

3.Depth - 62, Table - 55, Crown Angle - 35.5 , Pavilion Angle - 41.2

You mean HCA scale? Not H&A''s scale?
Either 1 or 2 - the fluoro isll help both - J will be easier to see colour in than I in some lighting - that is why there is a price diff - you get what you pay for.

Ask that the stones be checked for milkyness in shaded daylight - about a 10% chance.

Good info thanks Garry.

Ditto. Both 1 and 2 looks great assuming no oily/milky look. Definitely skip 3.

Thanks guys.

anyone else? I might pull the trigger on #1 and 2 this weekend and make a comparison

and sorry gary, its the HCA scale!

I just got #1 minutes ago! Will arrive on Tuesday.

I was doing a search a while ago on the same website and found a similar diamond, smaller by .01 ct but more expensive by $300. I''m thinking it''s because my diamond has a strong blue fluo and this one has only a faint fluo?

Here are the specs:

Price:C$2,446
Carat weight:0.70
Cut:Ideal
Colour:J
Clarity:VS2
Depth %:62.3%
Table %:54%
Symmetry:Excellent
Polish:Excellent
Girdle:Medium to slightly thick
Culet:None
Fluorescence:Faint
Measurements:5.68 x 5.71 x 3.55 mm
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavilion Angle: 40.8

Could be, this one appears to be a nicely cut stone.
