I have been lurking a long time and reading....found the rock at a B & M, price is $14500...looks amazing, what do you folks think?

This stone has a faint cloud and is eye clean (i am 20/20) I circled the location in the diagrams.....overall opinions on stone and price appreciated...

The diamond looks very promising, if you like it and have seen it, then that is great! You should be ok with the cloud being the grade setting inclusion with SI1 to the best of my knowledge, SI2 it could be an issue, but maybe it might be a good idea to make the sale final on the diamond checking out with an independant appraiser that the cloud isn't causing a loss of brilliance, just to be on the safe side. I don't mean or want to cause alarm as there is no need for that, just trying to give you the best advice based on what I have learned here, maybe one of the experts can give better advice on that. Can you see the cloud with a loupe or the naked eye?

An SI1 graded diamond usually has a larger more prominently placed inclusion than if it was graded higher. Many SI1 diamonds could have a black inclusion right in the centre which if deep enough can reflect all around the table to look worse when viewed at x10.
Hence, given that your inclusion is central, a diffuse white cloud is preferable to a solid back inclusion in the same location.

I think the point that Lorelei is making is that sometimes, if a clouded inclusion disperses throughout the diamond - it can make the diamond look dull. This is not so common but can only be judged by viewing the diamond hence her suggestion to get the diamond checked by an independent appraiser.

That is it exactly Indira, thanks for chiming in! I know it can be more of an issue with SI2 and grade setting clouds, but I have read it can occasionally happen in an SI1, so I was concerned to give the right advice in this case!

Thank you both, anyone else care to comment ?? Are the proportions right? I want a super nice stone that will perform well in most situations, not just some due to an inherent flaw in the cut / proportions....
