A few years ago when a 10 year old boy was raped and killed by a pedophile, the killer admitted to going to NAMBLA''s website and literature for "comfort" regarding his urges. The ACLU defended NAMBLA essentially using the ''free speech'' argument.

Also note, NAMBLA does not invoke the word "pedophilia". They refer to what they do as "inter generational intimacy" seeking to "normalize" their activities, when in fact they should be demonized. But that''s a WHOLE other story.

So in my probably second/third year teaching high school a teacher called me into his room to figure out how to get around our internet censor/filter thing so he could show his kids the Smithsonian's exhibit on the atomic bomb. He kept using "bomb" in his search and it was banned (filters are more sophisticated now). So I suggested he google other terms like manhattan project and smithsonian or fat man, little boy . Yeah, guess what website he found?

moral of the story: never click "i'm feeling lucky" with a group of high school students looking over your shoulder.

ETA: those are the names of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan by the US just in case anyone was confused. Not trying to offend either those who knew that or those who don't. Being foreign born and a history teacher it is hard to know what is commonly known info and what is not.

Wow, I''m shocked that these people aren''t embarrassed!

Since they exist, I hope law enforcement officials are infiltrating the group, and making lists of it''s members. I''m sure at their meetings they don''t only talk about their urges, but also crimes they''ve committed against children.

I didn''t know what it was until a team in my summer softball league used it as their team name. Needless to say enough of us complained to the league manager that they had to change it. I was so shocked that someone would actually put that down, even as a joke.

The whole thing is just sick. I''ve always been shocked by the fact that people can go through life denying that they''re doing anything wrong in this situation.

Does anyone else see the irony in a NAMBLA member/website viewer ratting out the org to the company who''s supposed to be policing said viewer''s pornography habits?
