Hi All, I have been lurking for quite awhile and have finally decided to jump in and post a question...

We are looking at having a Harry Winston "The One" micropave ring reproduction created for me. The original calls for a cushion cut center stone set into a cushion halo. We are considering using a round diamond in the center (for more sparkle) with the cushion halo. We have been assured it can be done, but we are unsure of how it will look. Have any of you who have had replicated the HW done so with a round center stone instead of a cushion cut? How does it look? Do you have photos you could share?

If we go with a cushion center, it will most likely be 3-3.5 carat center stone, if we go with a round stone, it will probably be 2.5 ct

Thanks!

Wow, that will be a gorgeous ring! I like round stones in cushion halos, personally. This is not a HW style, but the Vatche Grace is a cushion halo (with milgrain edge) similar to the Tiffany Legacy but takes a round center stone. I actually would prefer a round in a cushion halo as opposed to a round halo.

This one looks more cushion shaped:

Thanks Diamondseeker! This is going to be a huge investment for us, so we want to get it right!

We are only looking at Ideal Cut, VS2 or better, D-E-F grade diamonds. We just don't want to go through the process of purchasing a round center stone, having the setting created and then not be happy with the final look of it. It's great to see how beautiful other cushion shaped halo rings with round center stones are!

My other concern with the ring is that it may look too big on my finger. Oh well, that's just something I'll have to live with.... :wink2:

Sparkly...oh an ideal cut D-F VS stone is going to be fabulous! I'd use Victor Canera for sure to do this kind of setting. It is going to be huge and gorgeous!

Tacori makes a number of cushion shaped settings specifically for round stones. If you vist their site, there are several from which to choose. There won't be any gaps because the inner part of the setting is round and the outside part is cushion shaped.
