I skipped my trip to Nantucket, as it will hit the island hard .. Mr. Kaleigh is there, says it's no big deal, please come..

No thanks, I don't do well in storms with 150 hour winds.. No power for days...

Even MIL called to say, I wish you would come??

I was like have you watched the news??

I am playing it safe, so sue me....

I don't think they have any idea how bad it will be.... :errrr:

I hope that Mr. Kaleigh is okay during the storm, Kaleigh. I live northwest of the Cape and Nantucket, and it's all over our local (and Boston) stations.

We're in one of the high alert areas :errrr:

Last hurricane I remember being really bad was Hurricane Bob. I will be heading to the grocery store to stock up ASAP.

Eeep! Hope everyone in the path is OK! :errrr:

DH is working in NYC this week. I am freaking out because we're leaving for Mexico on Sunday morning. I called and changed his flight from Saturday morning to Friday night this morning and since then it looks like that might be a worse option!! I've also reserved him a rental car if all else fails.

I've been worried about hurricanes ruining our vacation- never dreamed it'd be an issue to get him home from NY.

Kaleigh - I'm sad you're missing your trip :(sad I'm so used to the dang things now I sortof have their outlook lol. I've driven through two, played football during one (surrounded by buildings which buffered the 80mph winds). We've had them hit and had some damage, and it sucks when bad things happen with them (people losing everything), but I think they're something that we all have to face at some point the same as tornadoes and lightning and earthquakes. I hope that Mr. kaleigh and your in laws stay safe and secure.

DH flew last night into Wilmington, NC just as Earl was going past the NC Outer Banks. He landed at 6:30pm with no problems and NO turbulence! I was shocked (but very relieved 8 ).

I am flying out of Laguardia tonight and it seems to be on time as scheduled. I don't think we're going to even get much of a storm in NYC. April20 - I wouldn't worry about you husband getting out. If anything, it will be the NY airports that thwart his plans, not Earl.

Edited for typos.

If you do not feel comfortable, then I definitely see absolutely nothing wrong with playing it safe. I tend to do that when we get any type of snow (it is fairly uncommon here and only happens about once a year on average, or maybe twice). The one time that I didn't, I got into a car accident.

I am in NC, but not on the Outer Banks. It became overcast here, and we had some very light wind and rain, but nothing else.
