Humidifier recommendations please

Just got off the phone with my girlfriend who loves the Dyson Humidifier. But she has only had it for a month or so and reading a good percentage of negative reviews I decided to ask here.
What is your favorite humidifier recommendations?

Going to use it just in our bedroom in the city which is under 200 sq feet.
I want it to be easy to clean and effective at keeping humidity in the air. That's all I am asking for. Ease of cleaning so we will use it and for it to do what it is supposed to do. And yes be reliable i.e. not break down for at least the winter.

Any recommendations?

I have been using this one, in my room and my kids' rooms for 2-3 years now. I am very happy with it. It's not fancy, it won't have the sophistication of the Dyson (or others) but it is simple and super easy to clean! I live in the northeast, too, and my skin hates the dry winter air. ALL fabrics itch me into insanity during the winter. This helps a LOT with that, so I know that it is working well for me. (And as soon as I set it up in the kids rooms, their sniffles and signed of oncoming colds resolve.)

Thanks rainydaze. I appreciate your advice very much. I am checking your recommendation out and it looks good. Now I have to decide if I will maintain it properly i.e. keep it clean to make it worth the purchase as I have bought humidifiers before (Crane humidifier is staring me right in the face in my bedroom right now LOL) and just stopped using it because I was too lazy to maintain it plus I didn't feel like I saw improvements in my skin...at the beach we have a whole house humidifier and that is so much easier because I don't maintain it my dh does lol.

Kenny, yes I agree. After reading the reviews I have decided while for some things I appreciate Dyson (LOVE their cordless pet vacuum) for a humidifier I don't need to pay $400. Dyson is obscenely overpriced you are right. Though I stand by the animal vacuums I have from them. Those are pretty damn amazing IMO. And with 4 kitties I need an amazing vacuum.

I use my humidifiers year round and have found two that I really like.

The Venta humidifier has been really good and comes with a 10 year warranty. It's quiet and very easy to clean because no filter and you can even put most of it (except the motor) in the dishwasher on rinse cycle. Good customer service and honoring of warranty. After having it for about a year, it started making a clicking noise. I contacted the company and, after emailing them proof of purchase, they sent a new part to me right away. DH bought the Venta for me because it's easier to clean, needs cleaning less often and doesn't need to be filled as often as the Seneo (daily for me).

I have 2 crane drop humidifiers, one for each childs room and have been very happy with them. We've had them about 2 months now and not a single problem, and theyre quiet and easy to clean.

Hi missy! I wanted to come back because I forgot to mention the sizes of our rooms to give you an idea of how effective it would be in your size room. My room is a little over 200 sq ft. and while this humidifier doesn't get the room sopping wet in the driest weather, having it near my bed is still effective. (I only put them on at night, too, so I am not maintaining a steady humidity level.) My kids' rooms are smaller but still on the larger side, and on the highest setting they will get condensation on their windows.

I love this one precisely because of how easy to maintain it is. The other ones I have used needed filters and were large and cumbersome to clean. I would eventually neglect the maintenance to a point where they were ineffective and a total pita to get clean again. This one I can throw in my kitchen sink to soak, give it a wipe down and off we go again. No contortions to get all the weird nooks and crannies. No filters to hunt down and change, or rinse, or soak again and again and again because they start drying out more and more. Just fill and go for a few weeks until it needs that soak (we have a lot of iron in our water).

Thanks Sabrina! This is the exact humidifier I have already and you have convinced me to clean it and start using it again before I make any new humidifier purchases.

Oh, okay. The one you already have seems similar to the one I have. Maybe the one I have is a little larger, and it has a rechargeable water purification 'cartridge' which is also easy, and a nice feature (I was having to remember to add vinegar or a commercial purifier with my other humidifier - one more step that made it a pain to me).
