Movies, TV series..
Or even English subtitled Bollywood, Korean or Chinese dramas.

I need to have some show or another on in the background while I'm home or I'll fall asleep!! I finished the whole series of Parks and Recreation in the last few weeks, and I've caught up with Bones, New Girl (I'm a fan of the Deschanel sisters), SVU, and The New Normal. I've never had a TV, so I'm just so enamored with my new projector I got for Christmas. Please give me all your raved titles!! :wavey:

These are the shows I watched on Netflix:

-Greys Anatomy
-Bones
-Private Practice
-How I Met Your Mother
-Merlin
-Gossip Girl
-The Tudors
-Downton Abbey
-American Horror Story
-Weeds
-Desperate Housewives
-Say Yes to the Dress
-City Hunter (Korean)

And more I can't remember

And for Hulu

-Bones
-The New Normal
-Modern Family
-Happy Endings
-Revenge
-New Girl
-Castle
-Greys Anatomy
-Smash
-Community
-Family Guy
-SNL
-Whitney
-Go On

We hardly watch anything when they're actually on anymore. We catch up to shows a day or two later.

We watch most shows on Hulu and movies and documentaries on Netflix, I think.

Scandal
Downton Abbey
24
MI:5 (which is the original 24 basically, set in England)
West Wing
Grey's Anatomy
Private Practice
Parenthood
Revenge
Smash (although I may just DVR this one when it returns. I'm the only one who watches it.)

There must be others but I can't remember them right now.

Incendies is a great movie we watched on Netflix.
Upstairs, Downstairs is on Netflix too and if you love Downton Abbey you might enjoy this as well.

Don't have Netflix. Followed 30 Rock with SO though when I'm over at his place! Here is what I watch on Hulu (many are repeats with what has already been said but I guess that is a good thing so you know it must be good right?)

Royal Pains
Revenge
Once Upon a Time
The Mindy Project (I know you watch this one already)
Mob Doctor
Emily Owens, M.D. (can you tell I like doctor shows? I heard this one got cancelled though)
Misfits
Scandal
Warehouse 13
Psych

TV shows-

Lost (drama)
Friday Night Lights (drama - I HATE FOOTBALL and yet, I adore this show. Go figure.)
Downton Abbey (period drama)
The Tudors (period drama)
The Sopranos (drama)
Frasier (comedy)
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (comedy)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (This is insanely funny! I LOVE Larry David!) (comedy)
Prime Suspect (British tv show - crime drama, stars the divine Helen Mirren!)
The X Files (sci fi - huge X Phile here :appl: )
The Crown Prince (foreign period drama set in Austrian empire - Max von Thun drooooooool!)

Personally, I *vastly* prefer TV shows to movies.

Thanks, all! Any more movies? I just watched Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting (finally!) last night.

I'm a film buff.
For years I've loved all those lists of the best films and tried to see them all.

I am currently watching a 15-hour series called, "The Story of Film: An Odessey".
It is currently streaming on Netflix.

It is like a college course on film itself, history, cinematic techniques, sociological/political influences ... everything about film.
Each episode generally covers a location or a time period, starting at 1890s.

It examines what happened Hollywood, Bollywood, and countries all over the world, and how many countries have for years flipped a finger at Hollywood to do it their way.

Watch this series with a paper and pencil because it will turn you on to a zillion fine films, often now obscure, that you'll not want to miss.

If you can deal with gruesome, I became obsessed with The Walking Dead. They're on Season 3 now. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix :)

Oh yes! Forgot about that! Do watch it!!

Thanks you guys :appl: Kenny, omg 15 hours?! LOL! I can hardly sit still for a 2 hour film. :knockout:

I've tried watching the Walking Dead. I watched the first season, then got annoyed by the second season. I kept yelling at the show  For the sake of my blood pressure, I shall not continue, lol!!

American Horror Story
Modern Family
Mad Men
Will & Grace

BREAKING BAD Best Show Ever

Lost is really good. We watched the whole series through when it came out and now I'm re-watching the series (am currently on season 3). It is an action/drama.

Other shows I like, but am not sure about Hulu (never used it) are:

Breaking Bad (is on Netflix)
Game of Thrones
Firefly (This was cancelled, but it is SO good...worth watching the episodes that came out, THEN watch the movie based on it, called Serenity.)
Planet Earth series for a documentary
The newer Battlestar Galactica (just finished up a few years ago)
30 Rock
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (if you're looking for mindless action/silliness)

There are a lot more, but I don't watch a lot of TV. Almost all of the shows I watch are on Netflix. I've completed a lot of series, like the ones listed, plus Jericho, Alias, the Dollhouse, Weeds, and probably more...I usually pick a show and watch it from beginning to the end.

Are you okay with violence or swearing?

A great one is Bridget Jones' Diary (has a lot of swearing, but is a GREAT chick flick. The book is good, as well!)

Serenity is an awesome movie, but there is a lot of action scenes - if you're okay with that, then this is THE BEST science fiction movie of all time!

Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
is a good movie...actually the book is great, so it's good to watch both

Practical Magic is one of my all time fav. girly films! I also read this book TWO times! It's a fun read.

I'm not sure what is on Hulu or Netflix, though...I know Practical Magic isn't on Netflix, but maybe it's on Hulu? Sometimes I just buy a movie used on Amazon if Redbox doesn't have it. Or, use Amazon Prime for movies.

Sons of Anarchy! A little violent but very smart and funny! Loosely based on Hamlet, in a biker gang. :)

On Hulu:

Kings (I hear it's really good but I've never watched it)
Spy (British spy comedy)
Misfits
Nashville (surprisingly good... my new addiction)
Once Upon a Time
Suburgatory
Grimm
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (hilarious!)
Downton Abbey, of course, if you haven't seen it
Scandal (haven't seen it but my facebook news feed explodes whenever it's on)

Thanks for all the recs!! :)
