Hubby doing household chores = more sex?

I just read this article on CNN, and thought people might find it interesting. I must say I tend to agree that it is easier to feel romantic with a clean kitchen!

I agree. And it comes down to respect - if he chooses to do a chore that I am doing or does it before I can get to it then I feel like he has done something nice for me. The more I think like that and the less time I spend with the vacuum does allow for more schexy time. So yes, I would say it is tried and tested in our house!

I don't know if it's true or not. If I had a husband who never helped around the house, or was a huge pain about it, I guess I wouldn't feel that romantic about him.

However, my DH is good about helping out around the house in general. If he went and cleaned up the kitchen one night, I can't say my brain would immediately jump to just because he cleaned up. I would feel grateful that I had such a nice husband and I'd give him a hug!

In my mind, cleaning and helping around the house (or taking ownership of the house as a full partner) has a lot to do with sex life. Doing a little vacuuming here and there doesn't - I'm not going to jump him everytime he does a chore. At least for me.

I think that being happy with your spouse goes a long way towards upping intimacy. So, if DH goes out of his way to help me with things that he knows are important to me, like cleaning, I am definitely feeling more receptive in the sex department. It's not a you cleaned so therefore you will be rewarded with sex kind of a thing, but more of a you helping shows that you care about me and therefore I am feeling more kindly towards you situation.

Also in my case, as the state of the apartment deteriorates, so too does the state of my brain. Women tend to link emotional state with physical/sexual state. It's hard to get your groove on in the bedroom when you're obsessing about the huge pile of laundry/dishes/other things that need to get done. So when the apartment's clean, and I'm not worrying about getting chores done, my mind (and therefore body) can turn towards other things.

My ex-husband left the house a wreck (STILL cleaning it out) and it invalidated my long work days at a job I hated, and made me wish to never see him naked!
My boyfriend just quietly gets up and helps tidy when I drop things, and that still amazes me. It lets me know that he is watching the little things I do and appreciates me. That is profoundly sexy to me.
