I''m in the market for a cushion (probably GOG signature). There''s this little guy that is too small for my purposes, but looks gorgeous. I''m surprised it''s still available. Am I missing something?

I can''t seem to attach images. Is there a post limit I need to reach?

Uhmm. Yummy!!!! I love Jon's new Signature Cushions. I don't think you are missing anything, it is just that, PS withstanding, these stones are not that well known yet. Rounds and princess dominate the market. I'm sure it will be snapped up soon.

As for attaching pics, here is the requirements from the help page.

Check out these points for troubleshooting:
  1. Make sure the file size is less than allowed limit 100KB.
  2. Before uploading pictures, optimize them for the web (72 dpi resolution, picture width less than 700 pixels). Usually it can be done using Photoshop or similar software that comes with your digital camera or scanner.
  3. Make sure the file name doesnt have any strange characters like apostrophe, blank spaces, or any of these characters: "`!@#$%^&*(){}[]+=:;<>.,?|".
  4. If your file name is generic (e.g. ring, or diamond), there is high chance that there is another file on the server with the same name. This will cause an error and you wont be able to upload a picture. Try to rename your file simply by adding a unique number e.g. MyRing98765.jpg
  5. Make sure your file extension is permited

When you've correctly attached a file, the file name will appear above your post. In the example above the file name is grn_chk.gif.

Boredstiff,

There is nothing wrong with this diamond its only been listed for 7 days and is a little smaller than most people's ideal size but still a very nice diamond.
The photography on the ASET is not up to the usual AMAZINGLY high standards that GOG is known for but it doesn't indicate anything poor about the diamond.

Good-luck,

CCL

Its a SUPER cushion, nothing is lacking!

In the ASET, I should be looking for a lot of dark reds right? This ASET seems to have a lot of that going on, so does that translate to a bright, beautiful diamond?

Here is a summary about the colors in ASET. This diamond should be very bright.

RED is Direct Light (drawn from 45-75 degrees). Red will be the most intense. It comes directly from the source.

GREEN is Reflected Light (drawn from 0-45 degrees). Green has less intensity. It is light reflected from walls, the environment, etc.

BLUE represents light Obscured by the observer (your head blocks this light from reaching the diamond). These areas will light up when the diamond is tilted and other areas will become shaded.

WHITE (if the diamond is backlit, as above) or BLACK (if not) is Leakage. These areas show where pavilion facets are acting as windows rather than mirrors. You see white because those windows allow you to look through the diamond and see the light underneath. White should be minimized.

In general RED should be maximized. Some BLUE is necessary. Too much GREEN is undesirable. The distribution of the three colors is important. WHITE should be minimized.

These are the best light performing Old Mine Cut Cushions that I have ever found. These are a modern optimized version of an older cut stone from the 1900s. If you like big bright mirrors under the table there is no way you will find another stone as good as these.

In terms of brightness they are still an antique cut stone so there brightness is very different from modern round brilliants.

Take a look at this video at the end to see the difference outside between an OMC and a RB http://www.vimeo.com/5219738
