What do you guys think? Its an excellen cut, 1.4 carat, I color, VS2. I'm getting quoted on it for about 10,500.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to see it but my parents say its georgious. The I color and the medium blue flourescance is throwing me off. But apparrently it looks like a "G" when face up.

Good deal?

damn.. i thought i onto the right diamond.

How critical is the crown height piece?

here what else I don't understand... and perhaps someone could help a newbie like me..

It the stone is a triple "ex" gia stone, shouldn't that the indicate that the stone has proportions that are very good? I.e, a decent crown height.

I guess i'm stuck on what else I need to look for other than the "4 c's".

Thanks if anyone can help an idiot like me.

Unfortunately, the GIA Excellent range still allows for some stones that dont have the best light return.

You can enter the stones parameters into the HCA tool to get feedback on stones. Stones that score under 2 are
worth a further look.

I will give you a cheat sheet on some numbers. However, there are some beautiful stones that do fall outside of these
ranges. For those stones you will need an idealscope image to check on the light return. Your chances of finding a pretty
decent stone are good if you stay within these ranges.

depth - 60-62%
table - 54-57%
crown - 34-35 degrees
pavilion - 40.6 - 41.0 degrees

The lower the crown angle the higher the pavilion should be and vice versa. Hope that helps.

If you just arent sure you can always post the AGS/GIA report.

Edit - just wanted to show you this GIA "Excellent" graded stone that I just found. You can see the leakage under the table.
So, unfortunately you cant just go by the grading.
