Hi all... this is my first post on pricescope. I just want to start by saying that everything about pricescope is fantastic. The community here is so great, and it's done so much for me while I search for a stone for an engagement ring. People rave about how bluenile has revolutionized the way stones are sold, but I think it's pricescope that has really changed the game by allowing all of us regular folk the ability to make intelligent decisions.

I'm considering the following 5-step asscher online, and I'd like to know what you all think of it:

2.01ct F VS1 GIA EX-polish VG-symmetry N-fluor 68.6%-depth 62%-table 6.95x6.85x4.70
thick to very thick girdle

A few concerns of mine:
-I love the geometry/symmetry of the asscher cut and the deep look of concentric squares, but are 5-steps too much for a stone this size? I mean, all I have are at least 10x images, so I wonder if the cut pattern will look too cluttered in person.
-the p5 angles aren't perfect, but are they really that bad?

Thanks!

WHOA!!! That looks BEAUTIFUL!! I don''t think five steps is too much for a 2 ct stone -- saw it on a 1.5 ish & *personally* thought it looked a little "busy" - so went with square emerald myself. But WOW those pix look AMAZING. So sharp & hypnotic.

Have you seen it in person -- afraid I was too busy looking at the pix to read carefully

I''m no expert, but wow, looks stunning to me!

I haven''t seen it in person yet, unfortunately. Buying something like this sight-unseen gives me the heeby jeebies. I did ask them for some glamour shots though :)

Thanks for the opinion on the busy-ness of the look. It''s something that I hadn''t actually thought of until today. I''m so busy being mesmerized by these 40x shots I forget how much (relatively) smaller it''s going to be in real life. I actually tried to shrink the picture down to 1/40th the size so that I could see its real size and dimension... I''m such a geek!

WOW! WOW! and WOW!!! Absolutely fabulous!!!

Storm should drop in when he sees the word "asschers" to give you a more complete/knowledgeable evaluation.

regular pic looks real nice
IS looks great considering how tilted the stone is in the picture.
The ASET has a lot of green and is a bit inconsistent with the rest of the data.
last regular picture looks real nice.

It needs to be evaluated in person ask them to eyeball it for you.

Thanks for everyone''s input! Mentioning "asscher" never fails to bring Storm to the rescue, much like Batman and the bat-signal.

Storm, could you let me in on ways you were able to conclude that the ASET didn''t match the rest of the data? Not only am I personally interested, but I will have a phone call with the vendor''s gemologist tomorrow and I want to be able to have a somewhat intelligent conversation with him.

general patterns and light and dark areas.
picture the red and green in the ASET as white then compare it to the regular pictures.
The 30 degree head shadow in the ASET can account for some of it.

leaving the ASET out of the picture id say buy it.
Considering the ASET id say have it evaluated then if you like what you hear buy it.
I would ask about overall brightness, are the regular pictures representative or is the ASET?

My guess is the regular pictures are.

I love the look of the five steps and I definitely don''t think the look is too busy in this stone. I think it''s gorgeous!! I''d snatch that baby up!

I''ve got the stone in hand now, and it''s pretty darned good looking. The real pictures are more indicative of what it looks like. When I take it out in the sun it makes my eyes hurt...

Well good grief man, grab the camera and start snapping!

Seriously, you have got to get pics for us! It looks GORGEOUS, and I can only imagine how much more amazing it is in person!

I love the patterns! I think it''s a nice one.

Where did you get it from?

Let''s see some pics!

Totally gorgeous asscher! I love the ones with 5 steps.
