Hi guys,
Well, I am having a hard time deciding which way to set my stones. I have a 1 carat round brilliant and two 60 points ceylon sapphires and I want to make a three stone ring.

I can''t decide if I want to set it in a style similar to an old antique style setting I currently own. It is a 1920''s 3 stone art deco ring that I wore as my first e-ring. I have always loved the style, but I had the stones removed a few years ago.
The other setting is a debeers 3 stone ring setting. Much more modern.

Anyway, here are the stones first.

Here is the close up for the first setting I like.

Here is the side profile. The stones I plan to put into this setting will not fit, so I will have to have a brand new setting made.

This is what it will look like on the hand. I placed the stones right on top of the ring, so they are not completely even, but you can kind of get the idea. The stones will have more metal around them and they will look squarish and possibly fishtail set. I am not sure, but that is the way the old stones were set.

One more picture of the stones in the setting.

Here is another type of setting I like. #2

Wow... this is actually a very hard question. The Deco ring style is just MADE for a diamond with saph sides combo... and frankly those look amazing in it. And you'd have a new one made for your stones so you could change things up a bit if you wanted... then the is the very sleek and elegant modern setting. Which I think is just beautiful as well.

For ME, personally, I owuld do the deco setting because-- like I said it screams for the colored sides with center combo and just looks so 'right' to me. Plus it's always fun to re-envision a vintage setting. And it is more unique and personal, IMO. \

ETA: Oh there are three settings. WHOOPS. Sorry. I still vote for 1, but of the other two I MUCH prefer the third. The first one seems too ordinary to me.

#1 hands-down. The colored stone combo really lends itself well to that setting. The antique mount is somehow more special and eye-catching than the other two (which I also like, but something about that first setting really "spoke" to me).

I have to say number one as well. I like the way the stones sit up in that mounting. It sort of has a boxy look that really looks good with those stones.

Who made the three stone rings in the other pics?

I vote for the 2nd one!

Here's a MWM one that I love!

ETA: 3 prongs on the sides pls!

I like them both. I can see reasons for having and wearing both

I guess it would just depend on what look you are going for. Do you want something antique/vintage looking or more modern yet classic?

Love Mark Morrell, but I don''t love the thick shank.. I kind of like it when it tapers down toward the center and also I want to try to get the sidestones set with three prongs, if I can find the right setting.

Decisions, decisions!

I am not sure, I always loved the style of the first ring, but I have always dreamed of wearing a classic three stone as well.

I used to be a antique vintage ring type gal, but now I am not sure.

will this be a RHR?

Yes! Or alternative e-ring type ring, when I want the three stone look.

Also, I would eventually like to get a nice cushion/oval sapphire center three stone ring. But I want to finish one project at a time!

ok, so how do you view your e-ring. I don''t really think of it as modern but not really antique looking either. maybe the 3-stone should be a differnt style than your e-ring so you can mix it up a bit??

p.s. I still love your e-ring and it''s probably my favorite Ritani setting. I''m actually going to a Ritani dealer this weekend

well, the project is progressing but DK is out. I honestly just got tired of waiting. it's been over a year of going sparklyless and the DK adds many more months to it, so I've decided to go with what we've got saved up and try to get something by our anniversary in sept. Working on the stone currently but refreshing my memory and trying to see some of my favorite settings again in person.

sorry butterfly

I like the third choice best, but they are all pretty and your stones are going to be lovely in whatever you choose!

No, that''s fine!!

I was wondering myself what happened to your Dk project!!!

I was also thinking about changing my Ritani setting BTW. I thought about upgrading my stone, but the prices have gone so crazy and the 1 carat I am setting is a J or K and when I compare it to my G, I really notice the color and it does bother me a little bit.

I figure if I set the J with the sapphires, I won''t notice it as much, but if I got something over 2 carats, it would be too noticeable to me.
So, I was thinking that I would like to reset it with a halo, but I am not sure which directiion I will go and exactly how I will set it or who will make the setting.
I was planning on calling Quest tomorrow to get quotes on making this antique three stone in 18kt. white gold and also a quote for a halo setting.
I may post another thread about which halo setting is nicer, I will see.

ok, please do tell why you are thinking of changing your Ritani setting? Does it have anything to do with the rings or are you just wanting something different? I only ask b/c I'm so gun shy when it comes to actually purchasing a new setting. there are a few in my favorite's folder but I don't know how I can actually choose one so any and all info giving pros and and cons would be most helpful

ETA: i just reread and saw you're thinking about a halo?

Quest would do a great job with your 3-stone...

I''m sorry Mrssalvo. I know you loved that Daniel K. And as you know, I personally think it''s stunning. But there are a lot of beautiful settings out there. And you have-- without exageration-- such lovely taste... I have to say I''m a bit intrigued and exicted to see where the road leads you next. AND on the plus side (at least I think it''s a plus) you aren''t bound by an existing diamond shape so you really have an open field of options out there.

If you need any help, any opinions or anything... would love to see what you are thinking of. Anytime!

I like #3 - where is that setting from? Reminds me of a Jaffe -

I like #1 also - I guess it depends on what you are in the mood for - you can''t beat #1 for the antique feel (perfect for the sapph sides, IMO) but as far as pure settings go, I like #3!
