Hi All:

First time getting into buying a diamond and some things are a bit over my head. I want the best possible stone for my budget and I came across this one (see attached images). How would you rate the quality based on what you see? I don't even know if that is the correct question to ask... Oh god...

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer.

This is the diamond in question: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-6381479-1.29-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-VS1-Clarity.aspx?sku=6381479&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

It's in my price range, I just don't want to get stuck with a dud of a diamond.

It's not a dud, but three white areas where there shouldn't be any is leakage and beyond my comfort zone. I maybe can deal with one little area, but not that much. There are better diamonds, so I'd keep looking.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep looking.

You are welcome. I think the problem with that was the angles. 35.5 crown angle just doesn't work well with a 41 pavilion angle. Generally, a 34 crown angle would work better.

When I search, I use these parameters to narrow down the stones likely to be better:

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

You can do better, for sure. I got this from the same vendor:
