How will you pay for the wedding?

My mom is being gracious and paying for the wedding. My FI and are also giving a certain amount. His parents have mentioned giving. I am hoping my father will give some as it would be a HUGE help to my mom. This sounds callous, but due to background circumstances it is not as awful as it sounds, if he even wants an invite he has to contribute x amount or else he will not be invited or ever see pictures even. Since I feel bad that my mom is taking on this burden I have no problem being a ''whore'' to my father in the sense of pretending everything is ok for one day in exchange for monetary help. My mom comes first to me and I will do what I have to in order to make it easier for her.

I wish I knew! We''re both in our 30s so I''d never expect my parents to pay for our wedding. However, if they''re willing to pitch in a little, I wouldn''t turn it down! We''re planning a destination wedding, so if they do offer, I think I''ll direct it towards reducing the cost for other family members.

Since we''re still newly engaged, we haven''t sat down to talk about it yet, but I do know we are going on a strict budget. So, I guess we''ll figure out how much we can save in x amount of time, and go from there. Since we know it''ll be a year at least, that will give both us and everyone else time to save up. We won''t use credit cards. Well, we''ll probably use them to earn more mileage points, but we won''t be charging more than we have saved since we''re both trying to pay off debt already. No need to add to that!

His parents own tons of time-share points, so hopefully they''ll allow us and other family members to use those. That would be enough of a gift for us! Otherwise...save, save, save! And then, we''ll cut out anything we can''t pay for on the spot.
