Can you believe I am asking this?????????????????????????????????

What is a good score for a RB diamond???

And where do I find the formula to score a diamond???

I have always bought off of GUT not score and really want to learn how this all works :)

THANK YOU :)

Hey, Woo............... (love that! lol)

Buying off your gut isn''t necessarily a bad thing. It means you''re choosing what pleases your eye, and as long as you''re doing that, it''s a good thing.

If you care about the ''score'', though, I''m assuming you mean the HCA. The HCA generally regards diamonds scoring at 2 or below to be worthy of further consideration.

Keep a few things in mind when using the HCA:

1. A ''lower'' score isn''t a ''better'' score - think of it as pass/fail. 2 or under = pass.

2. Remember that HCA isn''t a selection/tool; it''s strictly meant as an elimination tool. It''s primary goal is to discard what''s likely chaff and leave you with what''s most likely ''wheat''.

Another place you can look is at Dave Atlas'' old cut grading charts: http://gemappraisers.com/oldcutgraderules.asp

Here is a calculator that you can use under Dave''s system: http://gemappraisers.com/oldcutgrade.asp
