Hey everyone. I am interested in picking up an X-factor. But I''m not sure how to tell whether or not an X-factor stone is good quality based on dimensions, girdle, etc. Any tips on what I should be looking for or avoiding?

Also, there are three diamonds that I am currently interested in (links incl.):

Currently, my girlfriend has a 0.58 ct ACA F-SI1 princess but really likes the X-Factor. We are looking to have either the same size or larger. So I threw that last one in the mix because I heard around here that an X-factor appears larger than an equivalent size princess.

Thanks again!

I wouldn''t bother to do it unless you go up in size, and you''ll need to go to .70 or above for it to make a noticeable difference. I''m not sure about the extremely thin to extremely thick girdle. I believe I would have to talk to someone at WF and get their advice as to which x-factors are better than others since they''d have to look at the stones for inclusions, etc.

Sorry it also costs the most...but I do like the second one''s ASET.

Though the ASET is frequently pointed to as a good way to judge differences...I''ll leave to an expert to judge a) whether they too agree with #2 ,and also...I leave to you the extent the ASET variations point to a matching, more pleasing, real world look.

Finally, re the irregularities for the girdle on these jobies...I''ll let WF explain.

the last one may look smaller than her current one; look up the dimensions of the old one. the dimensions of the .52 XF should be at least 15% larger than the .58 PR to account for the clipped corners.

i''d probably just go with the biggest one.

Re: Girdles of X-Factors: The corners on a princess cut taper and when you ''clip'' them without changing overall geometry those places are naturally thicker. In some cases the process can produce a thin spot.We assess our in-house stones to be certain it’s not significant or in a vulnerable position... Discuss any specifics you like with your sales rep - we''ll gladly elaborate on any diamond being pursued.
