Hey folks! I''m hoping to get some help with this...my e-ring (no pictures that I can find of it online) is a simple cathedral style setting in white gold. It is tapered so that it is thicker near the stone (about 3.5 mm) and is sort of flat on the edges. The metal sort of rises on either side of the stone so that the diamond has metal coming up on both sides of the basket.

It''s hard to explain, but I tried on some plain bands with it, and the plain bands were somehow less flat than my ring - because they were designed to go with traditional e-ring settings. My FI does not know the name of the store he got my setting, and it''s not online either, and it''s not a name-brand setting I could try to call about. I have been to several jewelers, and all the plain bands are the same - somehow they don''t go with my band, which is flatter. Is there anyway I can find a band that goes with my ring? I didn''t think a cathedral setting was that uncommon...

Hope this made sense! I appreciate anyone''s input. :)

hmmm, can you fiance just go back to the store he got your e-ring? I guess it''s possible that a matching band wasn''t designed but it does seem a bit strange. Do you have a picture for us, that might help. I guess if you can''t find a flat band to match you could always get a diamond band

I totally understand what you are describing because I went through the same search! I ended up ordering a Blue Nile 3mm platinum wedding band days before my wedding hoping it would work and it didn''t. The band was too rounded but I didn''t have time to exchange it or buy another one before my wedding. It bothered me for 3 years before I finally found the perfect wedding band to fit with a cathedral setting!

I have the 2mm but it''s a tad too thin/narrow for the cathedral setting so Facets is making me a 3mm. I tried a 3mm with my e-ring and it sits perfectly with it! And make sure you order the Raphael band and not their in-stock plain wedding bands. Those are more rounded whereas the Raphael is flatter. It''s also the most comfortable wedding band I''ve ever owned!

Another more pricey but fits perfectly with a cathedral setting option is the Tiffany Lucida wedding band.

For diamond bands, channel bands work best. I love shared prong but when I matched it together, the prongs rubbed against the e-ring setting. I know I''m biased but Signed Pieces (also called the Facets Collection) has the best diamond bands!

Good luck!

mrssalvo - great idea, unfortunately the store the e-ring is from is in another city! I called to see if they''d have record of the kind of setting I bought (to use to pick out matching bands) but they don''t - oh well...

february2003bride - thank you so much for the link! it''s hard to tell from the pictures, but the facets ring looks a lot more like it would fit right up against my e-ring then the rings I saw at Kay and Zales. too bad there''s no facets store where I could go try the ring on before buying it! (just because returning something bought online can be a hassle...)

the lady I talked to at the jewelry store said that traditional rings wouldn''t fit up against my e-ring....I found something called a "flat edge" ring online - too bad I can''t find any stores that carry them!

thanks for the help, ladies!

also, february2003bride - if your setting is anything like mine, i also found the 2mm w-ring to be way too thin! i thought that was the size i wanted, but the ring looked tiny against the larger e-ring (mine is 3.5mm at the top.)

questionaboutsettings - I have heard nothing but the best things about signed pieces/ facets collection (the same place) and their customer service. I don''t think the return would be too much hassle.

Feb 2003 bride: Did I read on another thread that you were changing your setting? I really really like your wedding set!! I think it is perfect! But what are you changing to? (I also have the setting changing disease - am on my third - but this one has got to be it. Don''t you wish they could be interchanged?)

Still no luck finding a wedding band that would match a trellis e-ring. The link february2003bride sent was great, but seems like the band goes well with a cathedral setting, not necessarily a trellis setting? No local stores have anything but the rounded plain bands. Anyone else have a suggestion for a band to sit flush with a trellis setting? My e-ring is very similar to the link I posted above.

Thanks!
