DH has had his 50" plasma tv since March but has never cleaned the screen. The tv came with a special cloth and instructions, but the instructions only cover cleaning the cabinet surrounding the actual screen. Obviously the screen is collecting dust and we are both leary of using the cloth to wipe it down with...does anyone have cleaning tips for this sort of thing, or do''s and don''t''s? Heaven forbid we ruin his "baby..." LOL! TIA!

Also, because a plasma screen has a built in anti-reflective coating, you may be able to use an AR eyeglass lens cleaner. NOT the Walmart stuff, but something a reputable eye place would have.

Thank you somethingshiny! DH cleaned it last night with a microfiber cloth, and we''ll look into the AR lens lcleaner (the good stuff) if he needs to do any spot cleaning.

You're suppose to clean the screen? lol We've had our plasma for a few years and haven't cleaned it, other than spot cleaning. Bizarre story, though, a spider got stuck on the inside of the screen. We could see it walking around it there! lol It was one of those harmless little black garden jumping spiders (not a big creepy one).

I used to install home entertainment centers back in college.... real high end stuff. I''ve acutally done a couple Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies houses. As a tip Jim Thome actually invited me up to his family''s suite for a game. Interestingly I sat next them this summer when the White Sox were in town and they remembered me.. name and all. BUT I digress.

Its pretty easy to clean them. Do not use windex, the chemical content can harm the screen. Some places will try to sell you specific spray to use... but just plain warm water or a microfiber cloth seems to work the best in my opinion. Terry, or cotton towels or even paper towels leave behind to much lint for me. Some TV''s have a heat sink or vent for the heat to dispate. You can add a couple years to the TV life by cleaning this out to as heat is killer on the insides.
