question...how should you address save the dates are these formal like the invitations or more casual?

If you want to still be more formal for certain guests, you could do them based on your relationship. So Abigail and John Adams for your college friends and Mr. and Mrs. George Washington for friends of your parents.

I did this as well.

This is exactly what I did, except the distinction was by generation. If they were friends or cousins, we addressed them with Abigail and John Adams, if they were parents, aunts and uncles, family friends, etc., then we used Mr. and Mrs. George Washington.

After informal save the dates, I did formal addressing for everyone on the invitations, then went back to informal for the thank yous (except when guests signed the cards "Mr. and Mrs. Washington" -- then I addressed them that way).

Not shockingly, I did things the same way as SB. Everyone received formally-addressed invitations. Thank you notes were addressed informally...except for in a few instances, like my newly-married friends that I knew would get a kick out of getting mail addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. George Washington"...

OK, this sounds good. I think we will be varied on the save-the-dates (formal for older guests, informal for younger), formal for everyone on the invitations, and varied again on the thank-yous. I'm glad to see others have done it this way!

Well - you've already decided, but add me to the list! And I'm sure I got some people's preferences wrong in the end, but - oh well, the ones I really wanted there all still came

I'm lazy so I figured if I was going to do the work, I'd do it once. I addressed everything formally. Then re-used the formal addresses on my invites (I did both on the computer, no hand written anything for me).
