How thin is too thin for a palladium or platinum?

Hi people,

I want to design a ring guard of thin metal. What is the thinnest I can go with palladium or platinum if the band will go next to another ring and act as a ring guard?

I have this 1mm platinum band that I use as a spacer between my 3 and 5 stone rings (my avatar).

My wb is 1.3mm wide and 1.2mm thick. This thing is plenty sturdy - I could wear it on it''s own and not worry at all
