I don''t know who is good anymore. There are so many little details that could point to either. My opinion shifted so many times in the last couple of episodes.
Can''t wait for next week!
I was thinking the same thing. I''m so confused! I don''t know who is good and who is bad anymore. So it sounds like Jacob is there to keep evil from leaving the island and influencing the rest of the world so I guess he good and the other bad? But then the end of the episode had me changing my mind again.Date: 3/24/2010 2:21:15 AM

I loved tonight''s LOST! However I am just so curious as to who Jacob really is. From his sayings it is so implying that he is the God figure, yet so twisted!!
Scoot over, please. I''d like to join you.Date: 3/25/2010 8:05:21 AM

I am so confused, I''m ready to go back to episode 1 and start over.
See, I feel like Richard is a twisted Christ figure - eternal life, there to help people make the right choices and be on Jacob''s side (that argument Richard had with Jacob about people making the wrong choices if Jacob doesn''t step in since the MIB will step in in Jacob''s absence).Date: 3/25/2010 11:48:51 AM

I posted this long post before that got eaten and didn''t want to redo it, but in that long post I thought it was interesting that Jacob parallels a New Testament God (passive, has people make own decisions), while MIB acts like Old Testament God (you are in or out, metes out harsh punishment if don''t do what want). I do think they let you see a different side of MIB last couple episodes, where he ''spares'' and protects people that have decided to go on his side. Another interesting analogy is for example Greek Mythology, where you have older Gods being beaten by younger Gods and losing their place. That one God is not necessarily good or bad, but just has different world views.
Arguing against that, if Jacob was a Christ figure, he would be able to forgive Ricard of his sins. Why can''t he do it? Did he have to do penance first? Or is he really not a God, just more of a guardian with certain powers?
Personally if there is a definition of ''evil'' I do think that MIB is, there is just no doubt. If he gets off the Island I do believe that''s bad news. Even the devil plays by some rules, doesn''t mean he''s not evil. There are many many instances of him lying, manipulating, weakening people to get his way and also, how many arbitrary deaths? Just look at the body count. On the other hand, can you think of anyone Jacob has killed? Even apparently the entire time they''ve been on the island he hasn''t tried to kill MIB, except the futile attempt after Jacob was killed himself, via Dogen and Sayid.
But they had to get their Greek god parallel in! Ricardo was being tortured a la Tantilus - water just out of reach.Date: 3/25/2010 3:28:28 PM

I dont understand about MIB taking Lockes body, but Jacob has to talk to Hurley? That doesnt make sense. Is Jacob waiting for a body? And at the end when the wine bottle was broken does that mean that evil is running amok? Who broke that again? Was in MIB?
I thought the episode was good, but I thought they spent WAAAY to much time showing him chained in the boat. I mean there are so many questions that need answered and they spent half an epsiode showing ''Ricardo'' bleeding in the bottom of a ship. Come On! To me they only needed to show him killing that guy, coming over on the ship and then the conversations with MIB and Jacob.
I thought it was interesting that Richard was told that he was in hell and that everyone was dead. That has been my husbands theory since season 2. Which then again brings me to my theory that everyone is having a psychotic episode. Remember when Hurley was seeing island people in his mind when he was in the institution so long ago?
