So my question is, How plugged in are you? I asked because of the recent post on smart phones, and it makes me wonder, how many of our PS'ers are plugged in? By plugged in, i mean, how many own a smart phone, how many use a laptop, or anything else technology related. This includes WII's and Playstations, E-readers...all of it. I only ask, because it seems like more people are "Plugged in" than not.
Honestly, for myself, i am only plugges in with my laptop, and thats about it. My cell phone is usually off, or dead. I read books, usually from the libary, or i buy them( hehe, im starting to get a nice little libary)
So my question is, how plugged in are you?

This was recently asked... I'm pretty well plugged in, I always have my android phone, and my laptop comes to school with me pretty frequently. We have lots of electronic toys in my house. Fi just got us a kinect for Christmas, and we've been having a blast with it. Here's a link to the other thread :)

only to a desk top and a cheap cell phone.

Very. Smart phone, laptop, game devices, etc... Love 'em.

I have lots of gadgets; I love my Droid X, and I'm constantly on my netbook or laptop. My fiance got a Wii for Christmas, and we love it - he already has the XBox 360 and the Playstation 3, but I'm not really into those gaming systems. I got a Kindle for Christmas, and I'm just now picking out my first books for it.

On the other hand, I just got my first Ipod (which was my first mp3 player), just a few years ago. It seemed like the majority of people already had them by then.

I am not very plugged in..lol I do have a laptop, gosh I would never go back to a standard computer, I dont have an Ipod, smartphone or kindle (which I am quite confused by, not sure how the heck they work). We do have a xbox 360 that is my 13yo son's but I dont know how to use it and I have just a standard flip phone for a cell phone, it does ptake ictures but that is about it :wink2: I feel so out of the loop with things my son just rolls his eyes at me because I am so technology stupid

My husband and I both have smartphones w/ texting plans. His is connected to his work email acct mine is not. We have a laptop (mine) and a desktop (his) but only the laptop is in use (the desktop didn't get set up when we moved 10 months ago, he no longer has an office), and we use it as a desktop, it never leaves the computer room unless we're traveling. He works from home and uses it far more frequently than I. We have neither gaming systems nor ereaders.

Phones: I have a texting phone and my husband has an Android. While I think it would be fun to have the ability to check e-mail when I'm away from a computer, it's not something I need to have. My phone does have GPS though, which I love. I'm pretty happy with what I have.

Computers: My husband and I both have laptops, and they're used frequently. I use mine all the time, actually.

Gaming: My husband has XBox and he loves it. I'm not into gaming at all.

E-Readers: We don't have one.

Music: We don't have any type of mp3 player.

iPad: A fun gadget but I don't know that I'd use it too often.

Both my husband and I have separate laptops at home and we also both have blackberries. I also have a Kindle, Ipod, Magicjack (plug in to computer for telephone free local/long distance telephone calls), Aluratex portable jukebox (for getting radio stations all over the world).

I have a laptop I don't really use, but I love and use my iPhone and kindle frequently. My DH on the other hand is tied to his laptop, iPhone, iPad AND has a blackberry for work.

Droid phone, laptop, full gaming computer for DH (it is crazy big and powerfull), PS3, Wii and only one television. So yeah, we're pretty plugged in but I don't think overly so

We are very plugged in. We both have droid smart phones and Kindles. DH has a PS3 and an iPad. We both have iPods. I have a laptop. DH still uses a regular PC.

Getting more *plugged in* as we speak. I just traded up to a Blackberry Torch. I've only had for three days and I'm LOVING being able to check my email and FB from wherever I am. We have a desk top, lap top, four phone numbers, four voice mails, four email addresses and I'm on FB for almost a year. The one thing I don't want is another thing that requires picking up messages.

No gaming here and no iPod or eReader. I like hard copies of everything.

"Plugged in" in every way you mention plus a few more, yet avoid Facebook like the plague. Go figure.

Can I please vent about being too plugged in?

My mother has allowed her iPhone to destroy her manners. She now sits and fidgets on her iPhone IN PUBLIC while in the company of others. She attended my niece's birthday lunch yesterday at my BIL's house and proceeded to stare at her iPhone for nearly 20 minutes after the meal. She does the same thing at our book club meetings.

I can't believe it. This is a woman who taught me about manners and propriety, yet here she is, seriously plugged in. I've confronted her about it twice, and now I'm starting to worry that she's addicted or something.

Okay, sorry. My vent is over. Thank you for obliging.

We official have added to our gadgets. DH is bringing home an iPad. I have no idea what it does or how to work it. Is it like an etch-i-sketch where I make little pictures than shake it to start a fresh new page????

AHHHHH!!!!

I stubbornly remain as unplugged in as possible.
I even hate getting phone calls that are not absolutely necessary.

Yep, I won't even answer calls unless I know who it is. I actually prefer text messages because I'm not stuck on the phone for 1/2 hour.

This is a great thread!
I think it's such a mixed blessing.
On the one hand, it's great to be able to check email anytime- or look at a youtube- what have you.
On the other hand I think many of us have become slaves to our devices- I think a lot of folks have had the same type of experience as Haven. Why participate in real life when you can escape to cyberworld
Maybe it's a test of discipline. Having the device and not using it inappropriately..
