How old were you when you got engaged? I got engaged at 25 (and am still 25).

engaged on my 19th birthday, he was 22... won't be married until I'm two months shy of 22, he'll be 25 (I want to finish school, and he'll have gotten some major work experience by then)
we have been together for 5 years and 8 months now

a lot of my friends had a reaction of "what?! you're engaged!? I could never get engaged so early! but you guys have been together for a while, so congrats!" hugs, etc...

my family is happy as long as I'm happy, and his family was excited that he's going the route of school-good job-marriage-babies instead of dropout-babies-unemployment-"maybe we'll get married someday"-and "can we move back in with you?"

I know! its really bad

I actually have people who are happy for me until I say how old I am and their faces change. My best friend was the same she got engaged at 19 married at 21.

I like the age I got engaged old enough to know this is what I want (for me that is no disrespect to the people that got engaged younger) but sucks for FI cause my expectations and standards increased in the last 11 years of waiting - as I tell him sucks to be him, should popped the question when I was younger and he could have saved money

We had been together for 4.5 years total and lived together for 2.5 so it not like i didn't know what i was "in for" as such. Plus I've had a few situations in life that unfortunetly make me a little more serious than my 23 years. I will be 24 when we get married.

I havent been together with DF for too long (18months) but we are both level minded people and due to life circumstances I had to grow up real quickly. Its up to me and DF to know if we are ready or not. I had my very close cousin say to me "its a nice ring for someone who doesnt have money"
