And how near or far do they live from you? Pre pandemic or post pandemic.
And how often do your adult kids see you ? Could also be asked ?
I am answering from the child's perspective.
We live about 60 miles away from my parents.
Pre pandemic about 6 times a year but I speak on the phone with my mom/dad almost daily.
We saw them 3 times over the past 15/16 months of the pandemic.
August 2020 they visited us at our beach house.
May 2021 we visited them at my parents house.
And they visited us about a week ago here.
But it was outside when they visited us in Aug 2020 and May 2021.
And before we got our vaccines (only visited once pre vaccination) we didn't hug or touch when we visited.
My sister saw my parents more frequently pre pandemic as they helped out with the kids so when the kids were younger my parents saw them five days a week.
But during the pandemic no, because my parents are elderly and the kids are older now anyway so my sister and nieces saw my parents only a few times during the pandemic and that was always outside in my parents backyard.
I love my parents very much and it was hard not seeing them but since we speak almost daily anyway it was OK. We weren't taking any unnecessary risks with my parents health and safety. Not seeing them to make sure they remained safe was a small sacrifice and well worth it.
I am very aware that time is precious and we aren't guaranteed anything and the pandemic made me even more acutely aware of that.
I am grateful for each day my loved ones are here even if I cannot see them in person.
And now I am very happy we are back to visiting my family post vaccination but we are still being careful and visiting outside.

I haven't seen my parents since Thanksgiving 2019. Getting on a plane is required to see each other. We used to see each other probably 4-6x a year, but we won't see them until Spring/Summer 2022 due to medical circumstances. I'm very sad about this and honestly quite jealous of siblings and other family members that get to see my parents more frequently due to proximity. They are getting older and we never know how much time we have left...
HI:
Pre pandemic, we would visit our family 2-3 x /year live in another city. But during Covid, I haven't seen my Mom/sisters for 1.5 years. We talk frequently on the phone. We will visit this long weekend for my Mom's 86th BD. We are all vaccinated with 2 doses.
My son lives close by and pre-pandemic we always had Sunday supper together--and could visit during the week. During lockdown we didn't see each other much. It was difficult, but we spoke frequently. Now that restrictions are lifting we go outside on patios for a meal.
cheers--Sharon
