Coffee and tea don't count for this poll.

I'm asking about those canned energy drinks.
Here are some examples ...

at present it is one a day. energy levels low...

however, generally 1 month.

Which do you all like the best? I'm looking for a non-sugar one. Tx.

I don't think I ever tried one. Do they really give you energy, or is it just a temporary fix? I imagine they have sugar and caffeine in them?

Yuck. :knockout: I drink decaf coffee or decaf tea only... And even that little bit of caffeine affects me. If I drink it after noon, I can't sleep at all. Energy drinks? It would be like crack to me!! :errrr:

Not only are they full of caffeine and sugar, they contain other stimulants like taurine. Taurine is a naturally occurring amino acid, with humans consuming around 50-60mg of it on a daily basis. Energy drinks contain 1000-2000mg of taurine each. The FDA has only tested amounts up to 3000mg/day, and at this point have decided those levels are not harmful. Just like 5000% of average sized doses of sugar, fat, salt, whatever, is just fine for you too.

They do make you more alert, but it is only temporary.

I never have them. I think I've consumed about 4 total, in the course of my life, and those were all in the form of vodka/redbulls when out clubbing in my younger days. :wink2: I really try to avoid anything that resembles a 'crutch' - cigarettes, more than social drinking, energy drinks, coffee, tea, whatever. I'm tired (who isn't?) but listening to people complain ALL MORNING LONG about how they can't wait til tea time because they HAVE TO HAVE a coffee drives me batty. I don't ever want to lose parts of my day because I've gotten to the point of not being able to function without stimulation.

I've never tried them nor desire to. My poison of choice is coffee first thing in the AM-black and strong. :lickout:

I have never tried one.

These things taste disgusting imo, I am a rn on the night shift and I am amazed how many people drink them! We give liquid vitamins often to people with feeding tubes and the energy drinks smell and taste just like the gross liquid vitamins, I tried one once, never again, maybe others taste better then the one I tried.

I've never had one and have no desire to try one. I maintain a low sugar lifestyle and don't drink caffeine.

None. I tried a sip of Red Bull and a sip of Monster. That was two sips too many. Nasty stuff! I don't do caffeine.....when I drink soda it's caffeine-free, we don't drink tea or coffee....we don't even have a coffee maker. I know of many people who think that is crazy. LOL!

I have never had an "energy" drink and probably never will. I have a friend who seems to have some sort of unhealthy obsession/addiction to Red Bull. She eats very little and drinks those large cans of Red Bull a few times per day.

I've never tried any of them.

I think men are the target market.

In some ways I'm not good at being a man........ thank Glob!

I'm very sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants, so never. I would be bouncing off the freakin' walls, talking a mile a minute if I even took a sip!

I'll admit that I've thought about trying one and even asked my FP about the idea. He didn't say either yes or no, but he commented about the amount of sugar and caffeine.

I can't drink coffee in the mornings (turns my stomach) so I tried tea until I'd got tired of it in any flavour. Now it's two cups of real coffee after lunch and decaf at suppertime.

Now that I'm retired I have a glass of white wine with both lunch and dinner. Yummy!!

Before I became pregnant, I would usually drink 1-2 a week. Call me crazy, but I love sugar free redbull. Mmmmm.

I used to have one here or there in the sugar free variety. Once TTC I stopped and truthfully haven't missed it. Way back when I was terribly addicted to coffee to the point where I felt like I had the flu and was incapacitated if I went more than 12 hrs without caffeine. I'd drink an entire STRONG pot of coffee by myself every day. :nono: I'm very happy to be free of all of that business. It's harmful IMO to have a chemical dependency, even with "harmless" drugs like caffeine. I have to say that I'm surprised at the poll results, that's awesome! :appl:

Try RedBull Total Zero... it changed my life, plus no carbs! I drink one at least once every other day.

never!!...are you suppose to drink one before sex?... :naughty:

I checked once a week, but it would be more like 2-3x a week.. and the closer it is to finals or when projects are due, sometimes once or twice a day :knockout: :knockout: :knockout:

Never. That stuff is poison.

I have never tried one, either, and likely won't.

Never tried one and probably never will. The sugar and caffeine levels are scarily high.

They are so bad for you, so never.

I've never had one and don't plan to. I imagine they taste like regular soda, not diet, and I don't like it. Way too sweet.

this stuff will kill you real quick. talk about unhealthy .. :knockout:

They've just never appealed to me, though I am definitely not the demographic they have marketed towards!

Let's just say I'm in the industry. I'm around these all day long....I drink maybe 2 a year. Only after a business trip from halfway around the world and jet-lagged.

I have never tried them, but I only drink water and I can't have any caffeine.
