NOTE: If you want just the stats, feel free to scroll down. I basically posted everything off the certification.

Ok, I''m pretty much in my infancy of learning. I''ve put a good two days in reading, researching, and looking locally as well as online. So your input is greatly appreciated.

Today I spent several hours looking through loose diamonds at a local B&M. The place was great! No pressure whatsoever. I met the VP and he personally educated me and hand picked diamonds for me to look at--and I''m no highroller as you will see. I asked so many questions and spent so much time analyzing that he actually offered me a job!

With this B&M, I will get a free setting (14k choice of 4). Free lifetime sizing. Free maintenance inspections. Free cleanings. Free re-coatings on band. 30 day money back guarantee (full purchase price), not a credit. 90 day 110% price match "anywhere in the United States that is certified by the GIA, EGL, AGS." Full refund for future upgrades of any price (don''t have to double amount or anything like that). Oh yeah, he''ll even throw in a free replica CZ for my own sadistic pleasure! I joked to my GF that I would propose with a real diamond and a CZ. She gets to keep whichever she picks

Comments: 8 Hearts and 8 Arrows - This diamond was polished utilizing superior precision & craftsmanship, its exquisite proportions generate the appearance of 8 Hearts and 8 Arrows, when viewed at the correct angle & under the proper lighting conditions. - "Excellent Ideal Cut".

I personally observed the H&A through the viewer. I think it''d be cool to get a picture of it before it''s mounted. During my time there, I actually had my iPhone out with the HCA up so I could crunch numbers and quickly dispose of obvious bad candidates (one had a thin-thick girdle). I know without exact angles, the HCA isn''t that reliable, but I was only using it for additional data. I verified the color (to my eyes anyway) in a boat with a master set. Again, this was only my second day looking and learning.

I got an AGS0 ideal cut H&A L for 1.19kt for 3642, I am curious to see how your diamond compares. :)

Hi Scott

Its not the best cut stone, you can do better and I doubt it will show crisp h&a patterning as we know it here. I would suggest looking at some diamonds of excellent cut such as Peerless AGS0 cut grade from Jareds or Hearts on Fire to get a good idea of how well cut diamonds look. Also I would buy an Idealscope to use if you prefer to purchase from a store. They don't cost a lot, are easy to use and to work out what you are seeing.

I''m considering setting up an appointment with Solomon Bros in Atlanta. I viewed their prices online, and they seem the best I''ve seen. Any other suggestions?
