Okay, so I know no one can say for sure but I have never done this before & wondered what you PSers think.
So my yellow gold 7 stone marquise ring is still in need of sizing. I am going soon & have to make up my mind on either having it resized OR having it set into a white gold setting.
If I did this & gave them the current setting how much do you think this would roughly cost? It would be about two sizes bigger than the current 14k YG setting but otherwise everything else I would have them make the same only in 14k white gold.

Resizing should not be more than about $100 TOPS.

Custom remake will be $1500 plus. Not worth it in my opinion. ETA: I say this because you could buy a whole new ring for that, or sell this one and use the proceeds and the reset budget to buy a different ring exactly like you want.

Oh my my my! Def not worth it! I love the ring as is & was just thinking of switching it to WG. But I think I will just resize then! haha I love yellow, rose & white gold so I guess its a good thing. I can just keep it as is!

If you want it white, just rhodium plate it, and keep plating it. I did it to a seven stone and it kept the plate for 1 year before needing replating. 45-90 bucks a year is worth it (90 is for dipping every 6 months).

Alternately, there is this one, I've bought from the seller before happily. Their descriptions are accurate in my experience: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DETAIL-MARQUISE-DIAMOND-14K-GOLD-ANNIVERSARY-RING-/360438155231?pt=US_Fine_Rings&hash=item53ebc9c7df 325 bucks is a good price for this.

As far as I can tell, their business model is based on Volume. If the prices are low on individual pieces but they sell a lot of them, it works for them.

The piece I bought from them appraised out EXACTLY as listed. I mean, to the clarity grade (extremely rare on ebay). And their pictures are great, plus they have a good return policy.

I'm sure they mess up, but I was pleased and would buy again.

Gypsy,

Thank goodness I'm not looking for one of those . You are hazardous to my budget! That's a beautiful ring at a nice price. I especially like the details on the shank.

warmdiamondlove,

You need two of those rings, don't you?

Cool! Thanks for sharing.

My thoughts exactly! Get it Rhodium plated and see if you like it in WG. If you do, keep getting it plated every 6 mo.

Yup. I'd do this or just resize and leave it YG

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how lovely!
But I think I will either dip it or just leave it as is. I will let everyone know what I do!
Thanks so much for informing me I can do this, too btw!
