I''m planning on proposing to my girlfriend and I have a diamond on hold for purchase...but before I do so I would like to know if I''m paying the appropriate amount. Please help!

Ideally you''d want to ask for a Sarin report and plug the values into the HCA. The price will also depend on this. I would also ask for an Ideal-Scope image of the diamond to check the amount of light leakage.

But in answer to your question, a rough guess based on that data I''d say it''s probably somewhere between about 11k-13k''ish (quality dependent) and 14k is probably too much. You should get it appraised to be certain.
