How much of the Jan 6 Hearings do you expect you'll watch?
Why, or why not?

The first broadcast is tomorrow Thursday June 9, 8:00 PM EDT.

About the hearings ...

While this is clearly a very important event for our country, please keep politics out of this thread so it can stay up.

Impossible to keep poly-ticks out of a partisan witch hunt supported by biased media.

As little as I possibly can. I agree it’s important but from a purely selfish perspective I need to keep my sanity intact.

I'm afraid to watch because if there's overwhelming evidence that crimes were committed and at the end, no one is punished, I'll lose what's left of my feeble mind.

Of course, a good bit of it, I'm going to watch them build the racketeering case against for the country in real time. That's what the charges will end up possibly falling under the umbrella of- with, I think, six states involved for far?

As much as possible. CNN has a series going on Watergate narrated by John Dean. I was a teen when it went on and while I know certain things about it - names and some circumstances - it is fascinating to watch how it unfolded in chronological order. Power can be a very ugly animal when it is abused!

As much as I can, in hopes that those involved are held properly accountable for that disgusting day.

I want to see as much as I can. Not that I really have doubts about what transpired.

With all due respect, Karl, that's not what this poll is about.
The poll asks one question, "How much of the hearings do you expect to watch?"

I agree most media is biased, from far left, to left, to center, to right, to far right.
It's sad, but this has always been the case, though IMO it's worse today.
I think media is biased because they learned long ago that they make more money that way.

I think C-SPAN, which I'm watching it, claims to be center.
They are presenting every minute of each hearing with no commentary or bias.

But don't take my word for it.
Look up which media are center and watch it there.
There are lots of entities rating media by bias.
Sure, they could be biased too, so maybe average several of them together to hopefully average out their bias.

If you watch the hearing in its entirety you are not getting any media bias.
You are like a fly on the wall in the hearing room.
You are getting it right from the horse's mouth, where I see leaders of both sides on the House panel.

FWIW, in case you didn't know may media sources stream it both live and a recording of excerpts, or better yet the whole hearing.
I think media-chosen excerpts are more more likely to be biased than watching the whole thing.

Fortunately since the entire episodes are widely streamed long after being recorded people from all work shifts can see every moment.

It's 2:40 AM here in California and I'm watching the entire first hearing on C-SPAN.
Other media had too many commercial breaks. :knockout:

I understand that Phox News is not showing it.....go figure.

Lol, yeah, it would be awkward for them to broadcast incriminating evidence against themselves for the part some of them played in the festivities.

They seem to be scrambling furiously over there to keep the whole pretense going and direct attention elsewhere. No doubt krapping themselves.

I am watching.

They didn’t even have any commercial breaks during their regular programing. They didn’t want anyone channel surfing and getting a glimpse of the ugly truth or the part their news organization played in it.

I’m failing to understand why you think this is being spun @Karl_K. We are SEEING and hearing those in the inter circle testimonies under oath. It’s a little hard to spin people speaking in their own words while under oath.

I’m watching as much of the hearing as I can.

Carefully selected clips and practiced answers to make it look the way they want it to look.
After saying no I was not going to watch it, I did watch most of it.

A senator from my state was on the radio yesterday.
He said that everyone was terrified and running for their lives.

Its not really possible to hear the full interviews. Ivanka interviewed for 8 hours, Jared for 6, Rudy for 9 (though probably didn't say much besides I plead the 5th, lol). The hearings would go on for months. And I don't think we've heard anyone yet say "that's not what I said". You know Ivanka or Jared would be blasting that if it were so.

They have no choice but to show clips. Otherwise this show would take ages. These interviews were lengthy and substantial, many of them lasted hours or even days. What they do show is generally one question and one answer, which is hardly taking anything out of context.

There is a clear agenda or if you want a story they want to tell and do not care if that story is true anything that might support it will be shown and anything that might put it to question will be left out.

I give Karl huge props for watching it. I also agree that applying critical thinking skills to any news is the way to go. After all, people getting into the habit of automatically going along with any one party line or news source without looking at the other perspectives is what gets us into trouble.

All I can say is that I watched all of these things live, while they were happening. Not the hearings, but the actual events. I don't need the hearings to tell me what I saw, and know. I watched all sides at the time. It seems clear to me.

I would hope that every American watches this hearing in the interest of truth.
I feel this way as an American, regardless of affiliation.
Defending the sanctity of the Democratic process should be everyone's agenda.
That our Democracy was threatened is being proven with a daisy chain of verifiable facts, including video evidence with corroborating testimony, in the same manner as a legal proceeding would be. What we are being shown is what occurred, as it occurred. There is no 'story' to tell other than putting what transpired in order.
Atty. General Wm. Barr, Ivanka and Jared testified that the insurrection was based on a lie, and that they were aware it was a lie. Jason Miller also testified that Trump was told the truth by his campaign and that Trump knew and was aware that he lost.

Trump has been invited to testify. I hope that he does.

The rest of the hearings will illustrate exactly how this was orchestrated and then continued from using extremist groups, criminal threatening, extortion, fake electors and attempted fraudulent election tampering.
The hearing is just showing the receipts.
This takes the spin out of it. That's the point.
The only reason you won't hear about it on FOX Entertainment is because there is the chance several front facing members could be implicated themselves. This coming Monday FOX's former political chief, who was fired for telling the truth that Arizona was won by Biden, will testify on Monday.
There will be five more parts to the hearings within the coming weeks.
As Americans, we should all be watching.

... As Americans, we should all be watching.
I agree, and that got me wondering what percentage of Americans watched the first hearings, so far. ...

How many watched it? ...

And how many Americans are there now? ...

Uhm, what was that formula for percentage?
Oh yeah ... (part divided by whole) times 100.
So ...

20,000,000 / 332,762,882 = .060102.....

0.06 x 100 = 6%

So, instead of 100% of Americans, only 6% watched it. :nono:
