How much larger does a round brilliant look than an old European cut?

Hello, I have noticed that the old European cut diamonds have a lot of their weight in height as opposed to width ( if that makes any sense).
So is a diamond of the same carat weight much larger looking in a round brilliant cut or is the difference subtle.

In the ones I've seen it's definitely apparent, but I'm sure it varies from stone to stone.
