How much do you spend on gemstone/jewellery a year? Or how much is it in percentage of your income?

I realized that I have spent too much on gemstones this year. Since I do not have much to start with and I have actively collecting gemstones this year, I have spent roughly half of my earnings after deduction. Next year, I will focus on several types of stones as I have some stones I wanted already. I guess I will spend less next year. Please share your thought. Thanks.

I spend a very small percentage of our incomes / a minute % of our assets. I'd never indulge in so much! But hey, people vary, as @kenny would say.

Wow that is a lot! You must have quite the collection. I've spent less than .01% , but that is because I've recently found this forum and have only bought two tiny rings off etsy and a pair of diamond hoops off loupetroop. Next on my list are a pair of studs, so next year might increase slightly.
Phoenix, your collection is the stuff of dreams! I would be beside myself if I owned just one of those items. I wouldn't be able to do anything but stare at it all day

I am very strict with myself and set savings targets each year, if there is any money left over after that and all the necessary spending I might splash out on some bling! I'm pretty frugal overall and often seek out antique/vintage/preloved items in good condition.

Thanks everyone. I bought less than ten stones this year. A huge percentage of the cost is the shipping, the duty, and the currency. If I bought the same stone several years ago, the price would be less. After losing some money on the stock market, I realized the same money I can buy so much on gemstones. I decide to treat myself.

Too much due to the PS effect :lol-2: The first two years on PS, I easily spent 50% of my personal (not joint) disposable income on gems/jewelry...too many pretty colored stones I had to have. I have slowed down the past year (but for some reason I don't feel like I have more money )...and plan (hope?) to come to a crawl next year as I have most of what I want (within my budget that is...I will forever drool over what many here have).

But to put it in perspective, our kids are now out of college and we have no debt. I think no one should feel guilty on how they spend their money as long as they live within their means.

Not that much and certainly a very small percentage of earnings but I dont buy that much. I have found that I dont like to change jewelry that much.
I hate changing my necklace, earrings, or bracelets so I pretty much where the same ones everyday. If I buy something new I will probably wear those
all the time and might as well get rid of the old ones I used to wear. The only things I dont mind changing out are rings. Easy to slide on/off. However,
I still have my favorites and those get worn most of the times and others tend to sit in my jewelry box (like my e-ring).:o

A couple percent of gross income. I buy all my own jewelry.

I save/invest plenty, so I'm comfortable spending some of my earnings on fun stuff.

Anne

PS - I don't have a car, I think this helps free up some cash flow also.
