I have seen and pretty much understand the pictures on gog`s website regarding optical symmetry.. there is none on the Solomon bros website. I have put in some due diligence and ran the Solomon ring on the hca tool and it scored excellent. this is something that I really don't want to go wrong with so I would appreciate some advice on what I need to ask for from Solomon bros.. and any opinion or information good or bad about these diamonds..

OH YEAH!! I almost forgot..

the Solomon bros ring is an old blue nile ring and has a ags report from 2002. If I understand correctly this report varies in some ways from the newer reporting method.. any information on this would be GREAT too.. I am not really looking to become an expert.. but I want to be able to make a good, well informed decision.. thanks in advance

Not a good idea to go with reports that old. The diamond's condition could have changed (any wear and tear damage) and the grading standards had chnaged slightly over the years especially on cut.

It's probably a good idea to get the vendor to resend the diamond to the lab for a new grading report.

I think both Good Old Gold stones look great, but I am not sure I'd be interested in a 2002 cert unless they sent the stone in for regarding. I don't think it'll have light performance grading that far back, and plus, if the stone is a trade-in, you'd want the current condition verified on the report.

(ok, just saw that diamondloveaffair said basically the same thing about the Solomon Bros stone.)

thanks guys my mind was telling me no on the one from Solomon. I REALLY like the actual pictures of the 5000 pebble im interested in buying.. they sure are beautiful tho.. never paid much attn. to diamonds til about a month ago.

Any opinions on the other 2 diamonds?? or any good alternatives?? am I being too critical in the cut, and polish, and symmetry conditions?? I mean I want her to have the most beautiful stone $5000 can buy, so if anyone can offer advice im all ears.

I agree with the others about the old report. AGS changed their grading standards in 2005 or 2006 and as was also mentioned I would want to be assured that the stone was still in the same condition as when it was graded. Between the two GOG stones, I prefer the .84.
