On a scale of 1-10, how well does the Atlanta band (his) match the Autumn band (hers)?

Wedding is coming up and its time to start thinking of myself.

Fi's band is on the right - Brian Knox's Autumn, here (and a CAD video here - band was slightly customized to match Fi's slightly customized Autumn er setting).

I'm trying to find a band that would relatively match Fi's band (we realize its not a requirement or necessity, especially today, but still think it would be neat to have something that is similar at least in some ways). Of course, the jeweler (Knox) and metal (platinum) would be the same.

One band I've focused on a little is Brian's Atlanta setting (here), but Fi and I disagree on the extent to which it matches her's. So I set up this poll...

I'd appreciate any further comments you may have:

- do you like the Atlanta setting?
- is the sole princess diamond too much for a man's ring, in your opinion?
- would you like the setting better - or would it match better - without the millgraining?
- does the brushed middle section ruin it for you vis-a-vis matching her Autumn band?

Thanks so much!!

I think they go perfectly together. It''s nice that they both have the princess stones in them and similar size polished areas on the edges. I personally like the fact that the men''s band is brushed and has milgraining, and the woman''s band has baggs between the princesses. Makes them not exactly the same, but very similar to each other. I like them a lot.

I think they compliment each other very well, but "match" to me implies that they should be the same maybe with the exception of the widths/sizes.

But I really like them together.

Do they match, no, but go very nicely together.

Point taken w/ respect to my imprecise language.

Thank you for correcting me.

Obviously they don''t match exactly; I really was asking about how well they compliment each other, or are reminiscent or evocative of each other, or, simply put, how well they "go together."

I appreciate the responses so far. FI''s keeping an eye on the thread too!

I think they go together very well! I love how unique both bands are!

I think they compliment eachother perfectly! I love both, very pretty.

They look lovely together. I''ve never liked the matchy matchy look, but I love looks that are similar and complimentary...which this is.

Thanks again everyone...

Brian just sent me this picture, which is a rendering w/o the millgrain. What do you all think? Which do you like better?

I think the new band matches (compliments?) Fi''s band better then the first one. (Although I like the first band with miligrain more). I always think of miligrain as being a little antique styling, and the female band is very modern to me. So if you are set on the female band, I like the second band more.

The only reason I like the miligrain more, is because I''m partial to antique styled rings, but I find the second band very manly.

Here they are side-by-side.. a little easier to see.

I think they go together nicely!

I like the first one better. But for fun, can you do a side by side of the second one with hers?

I think the one without the miligrain "matches" the other band better, and my personal prefrence is the one without the miligrain... but you cannot go wrong with either.

I like the one with milgraining better.

Sure...

I have a modern contemporary passion...so the milligrain doesn''t peak my interest.

When coupled with the other ring...I much prefer NO milligrain. As your version is sleek and has a bright beveled finish edge...a modern clean look...so I see that both can carry that same theme...and then the center where the stones are make your uniqueness shine.

And I would like to add~ I like mens rings to be as simple on the bling scale...as I look at the man as being far less complicated...than say we female couterparts with our bling fixation. So to me, it is fitting that you get the rockorama ring...and he gets just a taste...for good measure.

Without is my vote!! (but since I am not paying for it...it is just an opinion...drats!)

And here''s all 3 together. I got new stock pictures of the Atlanta and Autumn bands so they were oriented the same as the rendering of the Atlanta w/o the millgrain.

Ditto. And I think it goes with the other well. It''s one of the nicest mens bands I''ve seen.

Oh I voted 1...with an footnote* of no milligrain. Of course there was no option of a footnote*...but that didn't stop me from voting.

EDITED: OH POO does 1 mean it does match well...or is 10 it matches well. I think I messed this one up. I think it matches well...so I chose to use 1. I need some chocolate.

maybe you should re-pole with the 3 rings? You could always consult Katherine Harris on the proper voting procedure...I think she is just sitting at home anyway.

You rebel.

lol @ Katherine

I think the first ring looks great with her wedding band. I voted 1, but perhaps it should have been a 10! Not sure which way you wanted the scale to run.

You know... that was a major flub. I figured scale of 1-10, 1 is low (low matching) and 10 is high (high matching), but it sounds like some people took it the opposite way. Oy vey.

After doing a couple of the numbers, I actually wanted to go back and put "(does not match at all)" next to the 1 and "(total match!)" next to the 10, but when I pressed "cancel" on the poll, it just posted it..

Sorry for the confusion - but when I see the results I''ll keep that in mind.. all of your comments are really helping me (us!)... Thanks!

Oops...then I will change my 1 to a 10! I think it ranks HIGH in matching. Sorry to have thrown the tally off (leave it to me to mess it up!). If it is any consulation...there was only one other 1 when I place my 1 vote...

I think you did well to match...and yet a step behind getting the exact ring. So...I think you did well. You can author another polll...for clarity. I don''t think there is a limit!

Nah - I did!

Thanks for the feedback.

too funny our posts just crossed...I love this place. If we were talking...I would probably be talking over you anyway.

I''m confused on the rating system, but I really like that first set of bands. To me they look more in harmony than the plainer band with the ladies band.
2.gif

i think 10 is the highest which is matching the best right? anyway, i voted for 10 because i think it matches perfectly. the two rings go so well together!

then you had to go and post the second band. then the second band looks better with the ladies band and then you did the three side by side by side picture and i think the first band looks better with the ladies band. whew!

so the first band it is, with the milgraining. it adds a nice flare to the ring. i''m sure he''ll get tons of compliments.

i love how your band has the baguettes seperating the princesses. loves it!
30.gif

i like the first band you featured, with the milgraining. i too prefer a more contemporary look and in this band, the milgraining does not evoke an antique feel, to me. i think the second choice is too plain, and that square stone appears a bit contrived, without the milgraining or some other kind of detailing to enhance it.

i can''t get into the rating on your poll - too much detail for me! whatever. i simply prefer the first choice you showed. and her band is lovely. i love that.

i also think your band in platinum, minus the stone and the milgraining, would also look good. but w/ stone, do milgraining.

just a newbie opinion. have fun deciding!

Thank you for all your replies and input - very much appreciated. I think I''ve decided to go with the milgrained version - like some other posters have mentioned, something about the milgraining sort-of "grounds" the ring for me - I think b/c it creates the illusion of a channel, like Robin''s band.* I agree that w/o the milgraining, the diamond just looks like its floating.

Anyway, thank you once again.

Robin''s band came in from Brian Knox today. I''ve posted pictures over in the SMTR forum,
here.
