Another spin on the TV topics, but I was surprised by some of the comments that I read (ie: Mara has just one TV in her house (btw I am shocked Mara) and diamondfan has one in almost every room( I ws surprised about that as well), I thought it would be the reverse, lol!).

So, how many TV''s do you have and where are they???

I will start with myself, since I started this thread, I have 5. One in the family room, one in the master bedroom, one in the playroom/extra bedroom, one in the kitchen in the basement and the last one in the family room in the basement.

None of them were new purchases when we bought this house, 4 came from the old house and 1 came with the house.

The 2 in the basement don''t get any use at all as we are never in the basement esp. now that it is getting really cold here and if we didn''t already have them, we would not even have bothered buying anything for the basement.

The family room gets the most use of them all. My husband turns it on all the time, even when he is not in the room, which drives me crazy. I think he just likes the noise. I don''t watch much tv, the food network sometimes and jeopardy, otherwise I have not favorite shows or anything. I prefer to have the radio when I am cooking or I just like to read a book.

My kids love the cartoon network/sesame street/nickelodeon(?), etc.

I was thinking about putting a TV in the living room, but my space is odd as I have one room for both the DR and LR and I would have to figure out how to make the best of the space.

So, how many do you have?

Two. One is in the office, and the other is in the family room. Honestly, the one in the office hasn''t been turned on yet, though the bf keeps talking about it.

I put the Xmas tree in front of it. You know what they say...out of sight, out of mind!

We have one in the family room. However, we''re planning to get a second TV in the next couple of weeks - we decided it''s time to make the jump to HD. Since the current TV (about 9 years old) still works fine, we''ll move it upstairs - either to our room or to the guest room.

A big one in the great room, one in the playroom, and one in the master bedroom.

We have 4. One in the living room, one in the den in the basement, one in the bedroom and one in the office. We each had 2 when we moved in together... the oldest ones are in the office and the bedroom and will probably kick the bucket eventually. I actually sold my "big" tv so we could get a flat panel and that''s in the living room. The one in the basement should be replaced with a flat panel because it takes up too much space but we don''t have the cash right now.

we have 3, one in the family room, one in the playroom (it can only play movies, no cable or tv. antenna) and as of a couple months ago, one in our master bedroom, which we moved from our guestroom when i was in bed a lot due to morning sickness coupled with a horrible cold a few months ago. I would love one in the kitchen someday, but it won''t work in our current house.

We have two TV''s. One in the living room and one in our bedroom.

We have two, but one of them is only using up space, we don''t use it. The one we use is in the living room.

Well, we have two TVs, but hardly watch any TV at all. The first one is in the family room and I watch about four movies a week but don''t watch any shows except Battlestar Galatica (which hasn''t started up for the season yet!

). My husband watches sports and the kids watch their DVDs sometimes, but really, our TV isn''t on very often unless we have a planned show/movie. We do not mindlessly watch shows and flip through channels.

For some reason, last year my husband decided to get me my own TV for our bedroom. The ONLY time I have it turned out is when I''m exercising upstairs. I think I''ve watched about 15 movies on it in the last year!

We have one in our bedroom, one in the guest bedroom, one in the office, and one that''s in a box waiting to go in our bedroom.

We have one in the living room and two that live unplugged in the basement.

Five.

Two people in the household like to have them on as background noise. I am totally at odds with that. When I''m alone, I hate to have the tv on. I read much more than I watch tv, although I will watch movies on the cable channels (can''t bear commercials!!). I also like to watch tv shows by season on dvd rather than when they are actually shown live. Okay, she protests too much...

3 in our condo, for just 2 people!

We have a big plasma in the living room, a small basic one in the bedroom, and a small mounted one in the bathroom.

My parents are even worse... they have 11 (yes, 11

) for just the two of them!! They were selected to do the Nielsen's ratings thing last year, and there weren't even enough slots on the form for all the TVs in their house... haha. But they have a big house, so they're spread out... 1 in each bedroom, 1 in each office, living room, kitchen, outside by the hot tub, and then they have a movie theatre in the basement along with a regular one. Still.... 11 TVs!

Ha... well my dad''s version of relaxing is watching a hockey game in the hot tub. But when I''m there, I leave it off!!

We have one in the living room, and we have a monitor hooked up to a DVD player (don''t know if this counts) in the exercise room.

Ephemery, 11 TVs, really? WOW!

HI:

We have wayyyyy too many (I don''t watch TV), but it is my DH''s pastime so........I''ve rented some movies for the weekend but my DH is too tired to walk downstairs, so we''ll watch it in the bedroom, no problemmo.....but just recently I''ve heard that, that rather NEW TV is just too small and that we NEED to have another larger flat screen mounted on that wall too.....

We''ll see about that........................TV shrinkage syndrome

cheers--Sharon

We have two-one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We each owned just 1 TV so when we moved in together so that''s why we have two. Neither of us is crazy about the TV in the bedroom, but we don''t really have another place for it, so that''s where it is. We do use it occasionally...sometimes my fiance will watch a movie in there if I''m doing homework in the living room, and sometimes we''ll both watch a movie before bed. (It''s not hooked up to the cable TV so we just use it for movies.)

We have 1 tv, in the living room, but no cable/satellite subscription. I just use it for exercise vids, FI uses it to play xbox

just one. helps us to compromise :-) tivo helps too :-)

We have 4.

1 in the family room
1 in our bedroom
1 in my den/office/hideout (it''s where I workout, read, do homework, etc.)
1 in a spare bedroom (it''s sitting on the floor, not plugged in. We plan to puchase a nightstand for it and place it in the other spare bedroom eventually, when we work towards decorating that part of the house. The intent is to create a guest suite of sorts using two spare bedrooms, but who knows what will really happen)

We may have a few in the garage that belonged to my husband''s mom before she passed away. If so, it/they will be donated.

We have 5:

(1) 42" plasma in the living room with X-box 360, DVR, DVD, surround sound, etc.;
(2) 32" CRT in the office/den with PS2, DVD and VCR (the picture on this one is starting to go, so we are talking about buying either a 42" LCD or 50" plasma for the living room and moving the living room TV to the office);
(3) 13" TV/VCR combo in the kitchen to keep the cook happy;
(4) 15" LCD and VCR in the master bedroom because I am a complete insomniac; and
(5) 13" TV and VCR in the spare room that holds my elliptical machine and sewing machines (this is my grandmother's old TV from the 70's, but it still has a great picture).

I am one of those kooky people that likes to have my shows (live or recorded) on as background noise. My husband rarely watches TV (other than History and SciFi channels), but loves playing games, which is why we have game consoles in 2 rooms so he always has somewhere to play depending on which TV I am using. I started out with just one TV in the living room of my first apartment, but everytime I upgrade, the old set gets rotated to another room.

Wow, I can't believe how many tv's people have.

heheee

I only have 1. Hubby feels it takes away from good old fashion talking.

My families are the same as us too, sister, in laws and my parents.

We have two in our small apartment. One is ancient and lives in the main room but is rarely on and the second is the world''s smallest tv from arc which my FI uses for for his playstation2.
My parents have a very large house and they only have two as well. One is in the main family room, not the living room and the other is in a sort of family room in the basement.
I had friends growing up whose families always had the tv on and I so badly wanted to go over, turn it off and say, "your not watching, why are you using all the energy to keep it on?"

4 TV''s
1 in the Master bedroom, 1 in the Office, 1 in the living room and 1 in another bedroom.

1 in the family room
1 in the guest bedroom

We both spend entirely too much time on our computers...we have three of those!

Only one old one in the guest-cum-TV room. In our old house, we used to watch far too much TV, me especially when I was not working on a project. So when we designed our new home, we deliberately did it such that the TV would not be in the living-sitting room or dining room and dominate our spare time. Now we chat to each other much more and we read a lot more too.

We have 8 (...ducking.....
20.gif
) When we bought our house 10 years ago and had no kids we just had 2...1 in living room, 1 in master bedroom. However, as we have added kids and an addition to our house, we have added TV''s along the way also.

We have a 6 bedroom, 4,000 sq ft home so here''s the breakdown:

17" flatscreen in kitchen (I spend A LOT of time in there)
56" plasma in Family room (our FR is 600 sq ft)
15" in my office (I work from home on the computer ALL DAY, and I can''t stand how quiet it gets)
27" in kids playroom...rarely ever on...maybe once a week
29" in a cabinet with doors in Formal Living Room (we added the family room onto our house, so this used to be our only place to watch TV. This one really hasn''t been on in about 8 months, I should donate it)
25" in garage (DH is a motorhead, always working on 1 of his 5 cars out there)
25" in master (I have to watch TV before falling asleep)
15" in guest room (my parents stay over once a week to watch my youngest while I visit clients, and they get up at 5am) but I don''t think they ever use it

Ok, I know this is a lot, but really the only ones that get used are the kitchen when I''m cooking, my office for background noise during the day, and the Family Room in the evening on the weekends when we watch movies.

I need to find a hobby...................

One TV in the living room. That''s it.

However we do have two computers :)
