About what you wanted after you found PS?? I literally was deadset on an idea, then I found this site- and I have been doomed ever since! This site is so addictive, and everyone''s ring is such an inspiration...just thought I would see how many of you changed your mind, how many times, and how "extreme" was the end result?

I never have. I have always wanted a Tiffany Lucida from the moment e-rings flashed into my head and although I''ve seen some beauties on PS, none of them are for me. I tend to fall head over heels for things and that''s my decision made.

oh boy...you can go back and see my multiple threads on my indecision and that doesn't include the emails that a few of my PS friends got that never made it to the forum. I went back and forth and back and forth even to the extent of purchasing a stone, never deciding on a setting, trading back the stone to hold out for what I guess i knew I wanted deep down and eventually, after 2+ looooong years finally got. it definitely is not anything like I thought I wanted when I first started searching.

ETA: there are actually gals here who ring shopped, got engaged, got married and even a couple who have had babies while I was still deciding

Oh I have exactly the same problem! I found PS....thought I wanted a halo setting for my RB. I got one, after 1 month didn''t like it anymore. (My poor husband...he''s so patient with me.) I just had it reset into a Tiffany repro solitaire. Now I''m currently lusting after a wrap for my solitaire with pears, much like Woobug did with her sapphire wrap made by Whiteflash.
I am addicted to this site and DEFINITELY addicted to diamonds!

I haven''t really changed my mind all that much... but the center stone had to be bigger after cruising all the PS forums

, I decided I really really wanted a bigger one (not that the one I have now is huge by PS means, but it is now perfect for me

PS didn''t have any bearing on my actual desire or choice. I came her a couple years back, looking for design ideas and found a link to Leon Mege''s site and was going to go for a LM asscher. But when I was looking for real, I realized that the size needed to look decent on my larger finger was a bit out of budget. Then I realized that I actually preferred old cuts anyway, and once I stumbled upon "my ring", I never looked back.

I changed my mind about 500 times

4 or 5 so far, and I am not done yet!

God, I''m all over the place.!
First I want square, now I want round. I wanted pave, now leaning towards shared prong...thought 4 prongs, now I''m saying 6.
As you can see, my mind is still all over the place. I''ll let you know once I have a final count of all the changes!

Oh good- although I figured I wouldn''t be alone in this department! At first I was deadset on an Asscher, then I wanted a Cushion, then more specifically I wanted a Cushion with a Halo design by Leon M...now, I am starting to consider a RB- although without the Halo, as I don''t really like this look as much as I do with a cushion- these are two completely different looks, and I really struggle and toggle between the two...by the time this is all said and done I will end up with an Emerald with two sidestones, or something else compeltely farfetched from my original design!

Hmm, lets see...first I wanted a 3ct. pear, but that was on a bit of a whim and DH said no not right now, go figure.

But then it got me to thinking that I really did want to change my set so I bought a *less than stellar* 5ct eternity band. I thought I could wear that for a while with a reg. wband but it really didn''t make sense so I returned it... Then I kept obsessing about what I could do to use my current stones in my three stone ring to redo my set and thought "how about a five stone band!" I liked the idea for a while but knew I wanted something more so I decided *finally!* on a graduated five stone eternity band!

Mr.7''s thinks I''m a little nuts at this point, and probably wishes he just bought me the 3ct. pear to begin with, but I am finally happy and all set with my decision!

Well, I didn''t really find PS until after I was engaged. I agree, though, that it''s hard not to second-guess your first decision once you see the gorgeousness abound on this site. Sometimes I wish I''d gotten a cushion instead of an EC. But then I look down at my beloved ring and remember why it made my jaw drop the first time I saw it.

Nope, never changed my mind. I found PS before I got engaged, so I *considered* cushions and asschers when we began looking for e-rings, along with my longtime fave, the EC. Once I tried on all 3 types in person, my love for EC's was confirmed, and the deal was sealed..I still adore my ring to this day!!

I have changed my mind too many times to count

Still counting over here...

Honestly after changing my mind so many times, I think I''ve come to the point where I believe it''s best to buy what you like at the time and what you can afford and then stop looking at least for a set period of time. There are always going to be prettier/bigger stones out there and my mind changes all the time as to what type of setting I like. If I kept looking and aspiring I would drive myself crazy and really wouldn''t appreciate how much I like what I have. I will let myself make a change, but I''m going to try to limit how much I look at other rings and instead focus on other things I like and save up for earrings or something.

Everyday! Seriously ...
20.gif

Haven''t even gotten my ering yet but it has been completed and set with the diamond already, however, I keep thinking about settings that I may have wanted to get instead. It''s the craziest thing b/c I was obsessed with this setting before I joined PS. I loved it. I still do, however, I see something every day that makes me wonder whether or not *that* might have been a better choice for me. Uggh!

ALL of the time! Over and over and over and over again!! I don''t think I will ever 100% make up my mind!

Poor Alj has to listen to me everyday when I come up with some new crazy idea of what I want now! Sorry Alj

I am still doomed.
me too. and i''m already married with a kid!

before the engagement, i kept changing my mind about the setting. now that i''m married, i keep changing my mind about the diamond! i want an upgrade!!!

it never stops.

Changed my setting 3 times PRE PS viewership.

Upgraded my ering center stone once while signed up with PS.

And Now?

I'm gradually working my way to my sweet spot.

I have not really changed my mind...I have changed my setting of my pear e-ring so many times, but that was pre-PS, only to going back to the YG plain solitaire setting that it was in originally, lol. The only big purchases since I have joined would be my 3 stone, and I always knew that I wanted RB's...I think I probably just stressed the quality of cut more than I would have before learning here.

Oh my Lord I am STILL changing my mind! Budget changed so the 1.5 - 1.9 carat european antique cut I had been dreaming about? Out the window. Enter sapphire center (round) of 1.5 carats in a crazy wicked Leon Mege setting . . . and now we''re at something closer to a 2.2-2.5 carat CUSHION (square cushion) sapphire in a 3 stone halo, possibly a semi-mount . . .

And over the weekend I was looking at under a carat round center stones HCA/Idea cut stones (like .7-.8) in a james allen double halo to stay within our budget. But I still don''t know -- really leaning towards the sapphire and SIZE SIZE SIZE!

I feel like an addict.
7.gif

since using PS i have had my RB set into a halo, decided to reset my radiant in an antique design with milgrain work (though not a real pricey hand made one like the ones i REALLY lust after) and my pocket book keeps somehow getting smaller everytime i go to the whiteflash website. hum fancy all that? gee, THANKS PS!!
30.gif

so many times, and i haven''t purchased my diamond yet!

if you asked me a few months ago, i would''ve told you no plain solitaire for me! i was dead-set on getting a thin pave setting with a cushion/asscher/anything not round.

after PS, all that flew out the door. i''ve gone from wanting an RB with the pave band to now wanting just a plain solitaire setting. and even with that i waver between round and knife edge.

ah, i never knew i was capable of such obsession!

11.gif
Oh geezz..how high can you count?
2.gif

At first I really wanted an asscher, but realized after some advice from PS''s that the price/size range I was looking in wouldn''t be a great result for that cut.

I knew I wanted square, but not princess, hence my migration to GOG for their modified squares. Wanted a square H&A, but now am looking at PoH - and have fallen in love
30.gif
Have changed colour and clarity grades Dramatically since finding PS - I originally thought I would never even look at below G VS - now I''m deciding between I and J, I1 ! what a change huh
33.gif
, but couldn''t be happier with the choices available. Budget has been blown out to over double what it was when I came to PS!!
7.gif
don''t ask me why, it''s certainly not like I can afford it!
5.gif

As for setting - well, you''d just have to check my threads - everything from simple solitaire to full halo pave, sleek and modern to art deco and elaborate, platinum to yellow gold to coloured sones. I have now thankfully decided on a fantastic Bondanza setting - but am changing the gold colour
11.gif

This is my new idea for the "I love every setting dillemma" : get at least 3 of ur faves, have them all sized to your perfect diamond, then swap them over every couple months! Ring rotation- wouldn''t that be lovely
9.gif

So, thats my story...watch this space, as not nearly finish yet
2.gif

Fun idea for a thread btw

Thank god I''m not alone! sometimes I think I''m going crazy. before I got engaged I thought I wanted a princess cut b/c there was a perfect looking one in a brides magazine but ended up with a round b/c RBs are more available here. THEN, wanted an upgrade to an EC but again, got a RB b/c of the same reason as before.THEN, I thought I wanted pear, and was obsessed for a while. THEN, cushion. THEN, OEC. THEN, EC again. Same thing with the settings: a solitaire- no, a pave- no, a custom setting with side stones- no, a custom set. without side stones... white gold- no, wg and pink gold- no, wg and milgrains- no,......................
this is crazy! even asked my hubby to help me make up my mind, he couldn''t. I wonder where and when this will end. my jeweler once said "it never ends" referring to his wife. see?
2.gif

I think the changing one''s mind is one of the beautiful things about PS! Look at all of the unique, beautiful settings we see here. When I first started looking for an e-ring I went into the mall and saw the same 10 or 15 settings over and over. After that trip I was sure I wanted a three stone princess ring because that is what I was seeing the most of.

The first day I found PS I spent hours pouring over every thread in Show Me The Ring. The huge "Forum Engagement Ring" thread is like a treasure trove of ideas. Every time I opened a new page I changed my mind again!

Arjunajane- I love your 3 ring rotation idea!! But its likely after a while, we would want a new "3" to rotate all togeher...and so the saga continues!

My experience is similar to mrssalvo's, except I didn't buy anything to trade in etc. Really, for me it feels not so much like total indecision, but in nitpicking the details to get things perfect! Since I've been trying to get my e-diamond reset, I briefly considered baguette sides, and then changed my mind to basically something like 2 RBs flanking my e-diamond, prong set, with relatively open-profile. My problem is, I can never find "the one" in the stores. I always nit-pick the details. Even when I find one that I think I could be satisfied with, like a Scott Kay, I think, "for that price-tag it should be perfect, and it isn't, so maybe I should go custom to make it better and less expensive." But this nit-picking perfectionism (or really fear of having something be weird or awkward about it when it's done, or wishing I'd done it this way) is why I'm totally petrified right now at going custom - I don't want to have to change it (and don't think DH would allow another change after this) after paying all the money to get it done custom.

ETA: Plus, I can't blame Pricescope for any of this. The reason I am on here is to help with my indecision, and because my fellow PSers are the only ones who understand!!
