pier1 has these on sale for 6.00 per set of 6 (so only a dollar each, which is less than any other placecard holder favor I've seen anywhere). What I'm wondering is how many do I get? Do I get one per person, or one per invitation (ie: Friend + guest both on one placecard, and some families have 3 members, so would I put them all on one card or get each person Mr. Mrs. and daughter a place card holder)

those are so cute!
i would get one per "invite", like "mr and mrs. x" on one,
"mr. x and guest" on another
not sure what etiquette says,

I agree, I think one per couple is fine (since they'll obviously be sitting together), but I would do a separate one for their children. You'll need it if you don't seat them with their parents (like at a kids table, teen table, etc), but even if you do, they might like having their own place card.

ETA: if the kids are infants or very small children, I'd probably just lump them in with their parents. 10 and up, I would consider doing their own, teens I would definitely do separately.

Thank you labbielove and laine! I think you''re right, I should probably do per couple and then each child separately. So for my cousins (who are all over 18) I''ll do one for both of their parents and one for each cousin as well.

Hopefully that''s etiquette appropriate

If they are escort cards, i.e. they are all assembled at one table and you go to find out what table you''re sitting at, then one per invitation is fine. If they are place cards, i.e. you place them at each seat, then you need one per seat. Assigned tables vs. assigned seating is the issue, I think.

Those are pretty cute! Maybe if you did do one per seat they could double as favors?

If you wanted to save money, you could even do one place holder per table and write all of the guests names on a card. Just a thought.

Good point--they are going to be to find which table to sit at, but I''m not having assigned seating at the tables, just assigned tables.

True, I was thinking about that as well, but I''m leaning a bit towards the one per couple idea. I decided that it was easier to have a single reception table with the names on there alphabetically and table numbers rather than everyone having to walk around to find their names on the table.

Just had a thought: I am not sure your guests will know to take the holders with them, if you want them to. People might just take the card and leave the holder. Just something to think about, maybe you can do some signage.

Good call...I''m hoping they''ll take them with them, what should I write on the sign? Maybe something to indicate that they should keep it as a momento and they can put photos in it. Obv I wouldnt write that, I''m hoping someone cute and creative will chime in ;-)

I agree, plus alot of the times couples only take one favor between couples them and it''ll help me not spend as much as I would have if I''d bought more expensive favors for everyone and was left wtih some of them. This way I''ll buy 100 rather than 150 for our guests....we''re inviting 150 so maybe in the end we''ll have some leftovers since not everyone will be able to come.

We are lucky enough to get around the kid factor--we''re not inviting any children, the youngest we''re inviting is 19 or 20, and they''ll each get a placecard/holder as well. We don''t have alot of little kids in the family, and we''re having a night event that will go probably till midnight. The only child will be the ringbearer, who is FI''s sister''s son, but I''ll let her know that if she''d rather get a babysitter and be able to not have to watch him or whatever, she can do it. I don''t really care either way.

well, this might be completely outside the realm of what you are planning but what if you made your escort cards do double duty with a photo of you and FI on the back, that way they would get that they were photo holders?

I will have to think about what the signage should say...all I can think of now is, "Please take one."

"Please enjoy a snowflake photo holder"??

Or...sometimes if you put a tag on an item that says something like, "Thank you for coming" or "Thank you for sharing our special day" then it''s a cue to people that it''s a favor.

I bought them!!! I love Pier1, not only did I get most of my Xmas shopping done b/w there and target (DVDs are super cheap there right now, I picked up Love Actually for $7!), but these guys are so cheap! $1 each you can't go wrong! The quality isn't bad either, they're light weight but not bendy or tarnished, (they're actually quite shiny and pretty!) so overall I'm happy with them!

I was thinking of a cute idea (which will take a bit of time but may be worth it) to get bigger name cards for their names/table numbers on the front and write a memory or a personal thank you for attending to each person on the back of the card. That may take more time, but even my parents could write some to their friends sharing how great it is to have them present, or us to relatives/friends etc. I'll hand write them to make them more personal (may type out the fronts, if I can figure out how, but I may just write them also). To keep it from showing through, we could write it on separate paper and glue it to the card, although then it'd have to be ice blue onto white cards so it does not look haphazard.

FYI: for anyone having an XMass themed wedding next year, Pier1 also has ornament shaped card holders on sale for $1 each in different colors (sold as sets of 6)
