This is a totally unscientific survey I''m conducting for my own curiosity. What I''m asking for is not general jewelry brands like Zales, Tiffany, etc., but brands that refer specifically to a diamond cut or diamond product. Not long ago, someone in the diamond trade conducted a scientific poll, and most of the respondents couldn''t name a single one. My guess is we''ll do a bit better here. After you answer the poll, post the brands you can think of if you wish.

SuperbCert
A Cut Above
8 Star
Hearts on Fire
Lazar Kaplan (sp?)

ACA

Lazare Kaplan

Eightstar

Hearts on Fire

Venus

Regent

Queen of Hearts

Lucida

Superbcert

Leo

Quadrillion

Royal Asscher

Dream Diamond

Trae Diamond

Lucere

Flanders

Spring Cut (if that's still around)

(I'm a bit concerned after this. The fact that I know so many of them randomly makes me quite sure I have a sickness for diamonds!. ehhehee)

Lazare
Superbcert
Eightstar
ACA (A Cut Above)

Wow I pulled a Jessica..I only got about 5-6:

Leo

Asscher (?)

ACA

SuperbCert

EightStar

Lazare Kaplan

can't believe I missed HOF...we looked at them! So that's kind of like 1/2 a point. Also REGENT..HELLO..I own one!

What is interesting here is that I see a pattern in the ones that are *remembered* by people...so far anyway. There are about 4-5 that have been repeatedly named by all. And those were the 5/6 that popped into my head at the git-go.

They're behind the curve--there are well over 100 out there.

Venus by Infinity EightStar SuperbCert

ACA HOF Queen of Hearts

...and other Signature Collections (BlueNile, DirtCheapDiamonds, ...)

In addition,

Millenium (they are an emerald cut brand)
Sirius

Then don't forget the possible:
Pegasus / Monarch (the annealed diamond)
Yehuda (the fracture filled diamond)

In singapore, these are some of the more aggressively marketed brands:
1. brilliant rose
2. destinee
3. lazare
4. hearts on fire
5. gabrielle carrere (spelling?)
6. Criss cut
7. Aurias

I also know of others from my research online and off:
1. Regent
2. Queen of hearts
3. ACA
3. Superbcert
4. Lucida?
5. Eight Star

heeheee.... I know alot...

A few lesser-known names:

Apollon Eight (the first hearts and arrows diamond)
Crossfor (square variant marketed in Japan and France)
Heart and Arrow (aka Angel Heart, the second hearts and arrows diamond)
Starfire (rebranded Eightstars)
Supereightcut (from Gamzu & Co., marketed as the Aglaia in the US)

Interesting results--better than I would have thought.

There has been a lot of "the emperor has no clothes" talk in the trade about diamond branding recently. From the results here (a sample of consumers who care about diamonds vs. the general public) it looks as if there may be something to the branding trend after all.

These were all I knew of before seeing some of the others:
Superbcert
ACA
HOF
Brilliant Fire
8*
Regent
Lazare Kaplan

And a new one that hasn't hit the market yet:
WOF (Wallets on Fire)

LOL

I did not recall the Royal Asscher was a brand. I thought it was a cut. I seem to have a fuzzy recollection reading something on it before.

Has anyone ever heard of a diamond with 100 facets? It was called "cen" something...I saw it in an upscale magazine at the Hilton over the holidays...darn, can't remember what it was called...anyone?
