How many carats is this ring about? Can someone help me?

Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me about how many carats they think this ring is? I know it's over 1 carat at least but I'm not sure if it is 2 carats or under or what. Please excused the chipped nails. Thanks.

That's SO difficult to tell. It could be shallow or deeply cut etc. I'd GUESS 1.2, but I'm just guessing. What's the finger size?

There's really no way to be accurate.....it depends on the finger size, the cut of the diamond and the setting. For example, a 1ct round may look huge on a size 3, and much smaller on a large finger. If the stone has a deep cut, it will face up small, if it is cut shallow, it will face up bigger.

Okay. So how does this pertain to the picture that you posted? Where are you coming up the 3 carats? What dimensions were you given?

It is a 3 carat according to the site and multiple others. It measured a 3 carat and I have listed the dimensions as 14.0 mm x 7.0 mm. We have also checked with insurance and it is indeed 3 carats. I'm 5'8 and 117 pounds with thick fingers hehe. The stone also is a deep cut and it is a solitaire.

Well, then you already know the answer to your own question, right? If you already know what it is, then why ask the question? As long as you are happy with the stone then that's what all that matters.

When I first posted this question, we did not know what it was. That is why I posted this question. The ring is my Grandmother's and she will be giving it to me when I get married. Thank you so much for your help, girls!
