OK, I might be developing a bit of an obsession,

But as I was driving home from preschool, I was musing to myself and wondering, how long does it take to cut one our pricescope quality excellent cut diamond? Does one person do it from the rough? or is it done by different people with a master cutter (for want of a better word) doing the criitcal finishing steps? How many hours would be involved? It seems to me such an amazing fidely precise craft, I would love to see it happen, but alas no chance of that in australia.

So, unless this sort of question is a no no, (in which case sorry), can any of the experts chime in, i am just really curious the process and time.
thanks

i think approximately 3 cycles and each cycle is 5 weeks
so you are looking at 15 weeks +

Depends on how the cutting house operates. Some operates like a factory production line where one cuts his designated facets to the required angles and pass it down the line I think. Others, like craftedbyinfinity, goes through different process by different people but all are involve in the planning stage of the cut.

Not sure how many hours, mostly depends on how fast the rough gets sawed and then bruted to the desired shape, and that depends on how big and how much of the rough needs to be polished off. Polishing to the final product is quite fast from what I understand compared to the above 2 stages.

The answer is it depends on the operation involved and the standard of cut desired, it varies. A superideal h&a cut is going to take much longer than a commercial quality cut.
