Hello All!

I searched the forums about appraisals and found lots of good info. But I didn''t see this...

How long does it take? Fiance and I have appt this morning - and we wanted to stay the whole time.

a) Do appraisers let you watch? -- I asked in my e-mail but they didn''t specifically reply to my question

b) How long does it take? - we just need insurance appraisal...in general... I''m sure everyone''s different.

ALSO - Did anyone have this... We have our AGS cert which plots out our feather inclusion. It''s an SI2 stone so - it''s not a teensy one. But there is just one..

HOWEVER - the DUPLICATE cert also provided with the stone - doesnt'' have the inclusion plotted?

Is this normal? The duplicate cert has the right info and #''s on it - so we do have the right one...

I think I read somewhere that the duplicate certs only show inclusions that can be seen. IS THAT TRUE? That just doesn''t make sense to me, however it is an eye clean stone by far. What do you use the duplicate certs for?

Any ideas?

My appriaser let us watch, we sat in his office while he did the appraisal and chatted about this and that. Took about a half hour, IIRC, it is a 3/4ct stone though and I'm sure the time is dependant on the size and number of stones.

Thank yngdaniel.

We just got back. Same here / same amount of time.

Ok - so does anyone know about the "duplicate" certification thing? This isn't a photocopy - it's on BLUE cardstock with engraving.

Any thoughts?

What did the appraiser say about the dup cert?
Having seen it the appraiser would be in a better
position to answer that question.

Anyway here is a btt maybe one of the experts has a better answer.

Yes, this is normal. The duplicate doesn't have the inclusions plotted and it's printed on light blue paper.

Didn't take the duplicate to the appraiser. Mentioned it and she said that maybe they only printed the details. I'm not sure I described it correctly to her.

Giangi -

Yes! that is exactly what it is.

Do you know why they don't plot inclusions on it?

Laney, our appraisal lasted about an hour. She actually had already appraised the diamond herself ahead of time and we spent the hour looking at the stone (we hadn't seen it yet) and talking to her about it.
