Hi this is my first post, I recently lost an alexandrite from a 4 prong setting (my e-ring).
Anyway I have become fascinated by old cut diamonds and have spent literally days! trawling ebay looking for replacements I have come across a beautiful ring (its on its way Yay) it features a .9 carat European cut. Its set in 4 platinum prongs The whole thing is a beautiful work of art deco art featuring around another 1/2 carat diamonds and 4 marquise cut sapphires. It is very floral and I think just gorgeous
My concern is that the total height is 7.5mm and the prongs do not sit out enough to protect the girdle of the diamond from sideways blows. The diamond is 6.47mm x 3.55mm depth. does this seem particularly shallow? Should I be concerned? I do tend to be clumsy!
Really appreciate any advice. Many thanks
