I'm considering a hand engraved wedding band (with a scroll and floral pattern). I don't like the look of engraved platinum rings, as I find they look too dull, if that makes sense. I prefer the look of engraving on gold. I love rose gold. I'm wondering how well hand engraving will hold up on gold, especially 18k rose gold. Would 14k hold up better? How often would the engraving need to be touched up?

Thanks!

Hi lasposa,

My wedding band is 18k gold and was hand engraved (on the inside though not on the outside). I´ve worn it every day for nearly 14 years and the engraving still looks brand new. Of course having the engraving on the outside means it will experience a bit more wear and tear but I think if you take the ring off when you are doing heavy work/gardening etc. it should be fine. The only thing I can think of is if you have it professionally polished, I would think that would maybe affect the engraving but I´m not sure.
