I found this diamond on Good Old Gold and I just wanted everyone's opinion on it:

Round H & A
Carat: .88
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Table: 56.7
Pavailion Angle: 40.9
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown Height: 14.7
Pavailion Depth: 43.2
Culet: 0.5



Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. They are going to hold it until Monday and I would like to know if it is a good price for what it is. Thank you very much

Looks excellent to me all the way! Great numbers and great pics. Is VS1 clarity a precise choice or just a matter of what is available? I may just add I also like their similarly priced 1 caraters in I SI2.

The VS1 is a little of both what''s available and what we want. I know there are SI2s that are eye clean but for some reason my mind just wont let me go for one(it''s dumb I know). My b/f is a little skeptical about the H color but I have assured him that it will look great. Originaly we were looking for a 3/4 carat but then we found this which is still within our budget so we looked further into it. Thank you very much for your reply.

It''s perfectly normal that your mind doesn''t want to go for an SI2, which, in theory, is at the lower end of the clarity scale

That said, I do think the stone you picked represents a very good deal! Unless you are very color sensitive, H should face up plenty white and should be perfect for white metals such as platinum. I''m also positive it will look larger than most 1caraters you''ll see at Zales, kay, etc.

Seems pretty much in line with what the prices are here on PS. I found this .925 H/VS2 for 4959.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I really think this may be the ONE! We have been looking forever and my b/f has been saving for awhile. He really wants to pay for most if not all of it up front because we will be looking for a house soon and he doesn't want anymore debt than he has to have. Of course if he ends up getting this one I will know about it but wont know when he will propose so it will be exciting. We really wanted to decide together what to get. I know I will be the one wearing it but I want him to be proud of it too. Thanks again everybody!

It looks like a very nice choice. I know that it''s hard for some people to drop in clarity when all that we''ve been taught is about color and clarity being the tops to get a super diamond. You adjust those parameters to suit yourself and your pocketbook and don''t worry about it. There is no right or wrong in these choices, just what''s right or wrong to you. If you can''t get past an SI2 in your mind, that''s okay with us. That diamond will be a lovely choice, and you won''t have to look back and wish you had gone higher in clarity. I have an 84 pointer, set as a solitaire and it looks very close to a one carat in size. I''m sure you''ll be very happy with it and anyway, anything the comes from GOG will be lovely.
